FSE Technician

Introduction

We're looking for a Field Service Technician to join our FSE Team. In this role, you'll provide customers with professional technical support for Metso equipment, including installation, commissioning, repairs, maintenance and troubleshooting.

You'll also work closely with technical support teams to provide consistent technical information and excellent customer service. Your work will play a key part in keeping our operations running safely, smoothly, and efficiently.

You will report to the Field Service / Life-Cycle Services Supervisor.

This role is based in Botswana and includes international travel.

Team you belong to

You will join the FSE Team, whose members are located in South Africa. You'll work closely with key global and local customers, key suppliers, Service Business Line Technical Support teams and local Service Business Line customer service support teams within the Africa market area.

What you'll do

• Provide customers and Life-Cycle Services teams with timely, high-quality product and technical support, establish best-practice technical support for Metso equipment and provide technical information for assigned activities and service projects.
• Install and commission Metso equipment, complete routine and non-routine maintenance and repairs to Metso standards and carry out component rebuilds, replacements, alignments and equipment lubrication.
• Inspect, install, adjust and maintain mechanical machinery and equipment on site, troubleshoot hydraulics and pneumatics and perform welding and cutting work.
• Identify and report risks of component or equipment failure, contribute to maintenance and reliability improvement initiatives and recommend job plan and tool changes to Maintenance Supervisors.
• Train and instruct customers' plant personnel, maintain positive customer relationships and identify potential new product and spare-parts offerings through analysis of process problems.
• Coordinate, prepare, analyze and submit accurate, timely reports and feedback for Metso and customers, organize and prioritize several projects simultaneously and complete special projects assigned by the Manager.
• Safely operate specified mobile equipment, including overhead and mobile cranes and forklifts, and perform work safely and efficiently while contributing to improved equipment safety, efficiency, effectiveness and reliability.
• Follow all plant-specific policies and requirements, including no-smoking areas, lockout, confined-space requirements, working-at-heights requirements and personal protective equipment requirements.

What you'll bring

• Matric (Grade 12) and a Trade Certificate: Fitting
• Solid field service experience with mining process equipment, specifically crushers and mills.
• Strong technical, analytical and mechanical skills, including the ability to carry out responsibilities with limited direction, organize and prioritize several projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Computer literacy, including the ability to use keyboards, telephones, copiers and telefax.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2008, the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• A valid C1 driver's license and the willingness and ability to travel internationally.
• Strong communication, customer relations, cooperation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, delegate effectively, work as part of a team and maintain a performance-focused approach.
• Leadership and relationship-building skills, attention to detail, initiative, self-motivation and the ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
