Introduction

 

We are seeking a Proposal Engineer – Bulk Material Handling to join our Global Bulk Proposal Support (GBPS) team. You will be responsible for preparing and estimating proposals for bulk material handling equipment, including apron feeders, rail car handling systems, stockyard and port equipment, and conveyors. Your role plays a crucial part in harmonizing and globalizing proposal processes across regions, positively impacting Metso’s global competitiveness and customer satisfaction. In this position, you will report to the Proposals Manager.

 

This position is mainly located in York, PA (USA) and we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required domestically and internationally.

 

 

Team you belong to:

 

You will join a team of proposal and estimation experts dedicated to delivering high-quality, competitive proposals for bulk material handling solutions. We are currently working on global standardization initiatives and supporting multiple proposal requests across regions. We collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as the Global Engineering Team, Product Line Teams, and Procurement, as well as external suppliers.

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Lead proposal development for complex bulk material handling equipment.
  • Analyze customer specifications and create design calculations to meet requirements.
  • Prepare proposals for new equipment, retrofits, replacements, and spare parts.
  • Ensure proposals are technically feasible, commercially competitive, and risk-mitigated.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and procurement for accurate quotations.
  • Develop standard proposal templates and budget spreadsheets.
  • Perform project handovers to the contracts team.
  • Support internal process improvements and documentation.
  • Interpret technical drawings and customer data sheets.
  • Ensure confidentiality and protection of intellectual property.

 

 

Who You Are:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in bulk material handling equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of proposal and estimation processes.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with SAP and Salesforce (nice to have).
  • Advanced English proficiency; Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and engineering skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
