We are seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join our Grinding Engineering Team. You will be responsible for developing critical engineering efforts focused on equipment upgrades, modifications, and new product development. In addition, you'll offer direct technical support during equipment breakdowns and repairs, working closely with our global team of experienced engineers. Your expertise will ensure that Metso’s grinding equipment continues to deliver optimal performance and reliability across the mining industry. In this position, you will report to Cristiana Grecco (SUPERVISOR).

 

This position is mainly located in York, USA, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. However, it involves up to 20% of travel to both domestic and international travel, to support engineering projects, customer sites, and field service activities.

 

 

Team you belong to

 

You will join a team of Engineers committed to Grinding Mills on Service area. Being a part of the global GBP Engineering team to engineer and implement upgrades, modifications, and repairs, enhancing the performance and lifespan of installed grinding equipment in Engineer-to-Order (ETO) projects.

 

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Supervise the design and development of structural and mechanical systems for grinding mills and related handling equipment, ensuring they meet rigorous performance, safety, and quality standards.

  • Manage multiple engineering projects, from concept to execution, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to.

  • Create 3D models, drawings, specifications, and procedures for grinding equipment, ensuring accurate fabrication, construction, and assembly for retrofits, refurbishments, or upgrades.

  • Ensure Metso’s grinding equipment remains at the forefront of the industry by staying updated on advancements and trends.

  • Research Through Development (RTD):

  • Drive R&D initiatives focused on developing innovative solutions for grinding equipment and material handling systems.

  • Partner with various departmental experts to determine market trends and conceive new products that include advanced technological developments.

  • Ensure Metso’s grinding equipment remains at the forefront of the industry by staying updated on advancements and trends.

  • Aftermarket Support: Partner with the global GBP Engineering team to engineer and implement upgrades, modifications, and repairs, enhancing the performance and lifespan of installed grinding equipment in Engineer-to-Order (ETO) projects.

  • Field Service Engineering: Collaborate closely with the Field Service Team, providing expert engineering support during equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and ensure efficient resolution of issues.

  • Global Collaboration: Engage with an international team of engineers, contributing to global projects and ensuring consistent engineering great work ethic across all regions.

  • Technical Expertise: Provide advanced technical guidance to internal teams and customers, solving complex engineering challenges and delivering real-time solutions during critical operations.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all engineering documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

 

 

Who you are

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Experienced Engineer: You bring a minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, with a proven history of mechanical design, equipment development, or process improvement, ideally within the mining or heavy industrial sectors.

  • Creative Problem-Solver: Building on a solid foundation of engineering knowledge, you excel at untangling intricate technical problems, using your expertise to devise sophisticated solutions for equipment design and enhancement.

  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in advanced CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar), you are skilled at creating detailed technical drawings, performing stress analysis, and working within tight tolerances.

  • Beneficial: Experience in a multinational environment or familiarity with sustainability-focused engineering approaches would be considered a strong asset.
