Introduction

 

We are seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join our Bulk Material Handling Product Engineering team within our Servies Business Area. You will be responsible for leading engineering efforts for product upgrades, modifications, and new development within our aftermarket product portfolio. This role involves hands-on engineering and providing direct support during equipment breakdowns and repairs. Your expertise will play a crucial part in driving our global initiatives and ensuring the reliable operation and enhancement of critical mining equipment, contributing to the success of our global aftermarket business.

 

In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager of BMH Engineering. Based in Pittsburgh, PA, the role offers flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options, and requires approximately 10% travel annually. Team You Belong To

 

You will join a team of highly skilled mechanical engineers dedicated to the design, development, and support of bulk material handling equipment within the mining industry. We are focused on delivering innovative and reliable solutions that enhance the performance and lifespan of critical machinery such as Apron Feeders, Rotary Car Dumpers, and Bucketwheel Stacker Reclaimers.

We collaborate closely with internal teams such as the Field Service Team and external stakeholders across various regions. Our team culture emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, with members located in multiple global locations.

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Lead the engineering and development of mechanical and structural systems for bulk material handling equipment.
  • Manage multiple projects from concept through execution, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
  • Develop 3D models, shop drawings, specifications, and procedures for fabrication and assembly.
  • Conduct structural and mechanical calculations to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Spearhead R&D initiatives for product development and design, integrating cutting-edge technologies.
  • Collaborate with the Field Service Team to provide engineering support during equipment breakdowns, minimizing downtime.
  • Work closely with the global engineering team to implement equipment upgrades, modifications, and repairs.
  • Ensure all engineering documentation meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.

 

Who You Are

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Preferably over ten years of experience in mechanical engineering, including exposure to bulk material handling equipment in the mining industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor) and mechanical systems design.
  • Deep understanding of machine design, structural analysis, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience diagnosing and resolving equipment breakdowns under time constraints.
  • Knowledge of BMH equipment such as Apron Feeders, Belt Feeders, and Rotary Car Dumpers.
  • Strong global collaboration experience and ability to work across cultures and regions.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to overcoming complex engineering challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
