Introduction
We are seeking a Proposal Engineer – Grinding to join our Global Proposals team within the Minerals Grinding Business Line. You will be responsible for preparing high‑quality, accurate, and competitive techno‑commercial proposals for grinding equipment and systems, which involves reviewing RFQs, developing bid strategies, and coordinating cost estimates and supplier inputs. Your role plays a crucial part in securing profitable orders and ensuring a seamless transition from proposal to project execution, which will positively impact business growth and customer satisfaction. In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager – Global Proposals, Grinding BL.
This position is mainly located in York, PA, USA; however, it involves approximately 15–30% travel, including domestic and international travel. Hybrid working arrangements are available based on business needs.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of proposal and technical sales professionals who strive to deliver high‑quality, competitive proposals that support business growth in the grinding capital equipment space. We are currently developing complex techno‑commercial proposals for global grinding projects and driving standardization and best practices across global proposal processes.
We work closely with internal stakeholders such as Sales, Market Area Teams, Global Sales Support, Engineering, Process Engineering, Finance, and Supply Chain, as well as external customers, suppliers, and engineering partners. Our team culture is all about collaboration, accuracy, accountability, and delivering results under pressure. The members in our team are located in multiple global locations.
What you’ll do
- Review and interpret customer RFQs, technical specifications, and commercial requirements for grinding equipment and systems
- Develop complete techno‑commercial proposals aligned with customer needs, internal standards, and business strategy
- Prepare cost estimates and coordinate with sourcing and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing
- Identify and communicate risks, opportunities, exceptions, and clarifications within proposals
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Engineering, Product Line, and Global teams to define winning bid strategies
- Support customer interactions, including technical clarifications and commercial discussions
- Maintain proposal documentation and records within CRM tools (Salesforce, SharePoint) and ensure compliance with governance processes
- Support order handover by preparing “As‑Sold” documentation and participating in project kick‑off activities
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 1–3+ years of experience in proposals, estimating, or technical sales (preferably in mining, minerals processing, or heavy equipment)
- Strong understanding of capital equipment and grinding technologies (nice‑to‑have)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Strong knowledge of commercial terms, contract conditions, and Incoterms
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across global, cross‑functional teams
- Self‑motivated, customer‑focused, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
