Introduction
We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for aligning the performance of Metso Thermal Processing products with customer requirements to provide best-fit solutions and offerings in all phases of the product lifecycle from the onset of developing a sales opportunity, to project commissioning, to warranty support and aftermarket support. In this position, you will report to Head of Thermal Processing Product Group.
This position is located in York, PA, but we are pleased to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. There is some travel required for the role, approximately 30%.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of process engineers developing product improvements, bidding competitive solutions for effective project sale, and troubleshooting and correcting under-performing installations. The majority of the members in our team are located in York, PA.
What You’ll Do
- Design and Develop Systems: Select and size equipment, and create system solutions to support Heat Transfer projects, collaborating with test centers as needed.
- Process Simulation Modeling: Prepare accurate and timely process simulations, considering various conditions.
- Commercial Performance Statements: Draft performance statements for proposals.
- Technical Support: Assist sales staff and promote positive customer relationships.
- Sales Presentations: Create and deliver tactical technical sales presentations.
- Customer Meetings: Attend meetings to develop solutions and support sales.
- Modeling Tools: Maintain and develop tools for equipment performance modeling.
- Process Flow Diagrams: Prepare PFDs and heat and mass balances.
- Control Philosophy: Review control philosophy and P&ID diagrams.
- Field Services: Provide start-up commissioning services and process audits.
- Data Analysis: Analyze plant data for baseline modeling and process improvements.
- Training Programs: Develop and present training programs for internal and external audiences.
- Miscellaneous Tasks: Perform other tasks and special projects as required.
Who You Are
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of Heat Transfer equipment products and industry best practices.
- Engineering Skills: Proficiency in data handling, applied statistics, control theory, logic, mineral processing principles, unit operations modeling, and structured problem-solving.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Identify and assess operational, control, or design-related problems, design and evaluate solutions, and implement recommendations.
- Implementation Skills: Experience in flowsheet design support, process re-engineering, DCS or PLC configuration, and process optimization.
- Drawing Interpretation: Ability to understand engineering drawings.
- Communication Skills: Proficient oral and written communication, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Personal Qualities: Determined, understanding, and consistent, especially when working at client sites.
- Interpersonal Skills: Customer relations and interpersonal skills.
- Industry Experience: Preference will be given to applicants with work experience at OEM serving mining or heavy equipment industries, and process engineering for large continuous thermal processing equipment.
