Introduction


We are seeking an Installation and Commissioning Specialist, Grinding to join our Global Field Service (GFS) team. You will be responsible for providing day-to-day advisory support and ensuring the performance of grinding equipment/mills installation and commissioning, which involves on-site audits, technical troubleshooting, customer training, and detailed service reporting. Your role plays a crucial part in safe and successful customer site execution and customer satisfaction, which will positively impact equipment reliability and long-term customer relationships. In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager of Global Field Service, Grinding.


This position is mainly located remotely, with candidates considered across North America, Central America, and Asia Pacific; however, it involves up to 90% travel to customer sites globally.


Team you belong to


You will join a team of Field Service Specialists dedicated to providing technical troubleshooting analysis, recommending solutions, and delivering inspection/service reports, maintenance support, training, start-up procedures, and commissioning advisory services.
We work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as customers, contractors, and engineering and sales partners. Our team culture is all about collaboration and building strong relationships with our customers. The members in our team are located mainly in the United States, with additional team members across the globe.


What you’ll do

 

  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, building positive working relationships.
  • Work at remote customer sites globally for extended periods (high travel requirement).
  • Conduct pre-installation audits to assess site conditions, customer readiness, inventory, and installation logistics.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting analysis and recommend solutions to field service challenges.
  • Submit recommendations, evaluations, expense reports, action reports, and monthly work logs in line with Metso reporting and billing processes.
  • Provide field and classroom-based training on service, maintenance, and commissioning for customers and end-user personnel.
  • Adhere to safety requirements (including Lock Out/Tag Out) and comply with Metso HSE and site safety guidelines.


Who you are

 

  • Millwright and/or hydraulics certifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience providing technical support and service for grinding equipment, mills, and related industrial equipment.
  • Nice to have: Supervisory experience.
  • Nice to have: Electrical knowledge related to mechanical applications.
  • Able to advise customers, engineering firms, and contractors under various working conditions and hours.
  • A collaborative communicator who can work technically with Field Sales, Training, Application & Technical Support, and Parts/Support/Engineering teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair with a clear emphasis on safety.
  • Understands HSE policies and procedures and supports adherence at customer sites.
