Introduction and Team you will belong to
The Senior Engineer – with a hydraulics focus plays a key role in designing and delivering hydraulic systems for our Horizontal Grinding Mills within Metso Service Engineering. You’ll provide technical leadership across project engineering, from selecting hydraulic components to creating BOMs, drawings, schematics, and performance calculations.
You’ll help maintain our hydraulic product portfolio, develop tailored solutions, and collaborate closely with global engineering teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure reliable, high‑quality system performance.

What You’ll Do:
- Plan and lead detailed hydraulic design work for equipment delivery projects and product development.
- Develop and implement hydraulic solutions for grinding mills, ensuring system reliability and efficiency.
- Review and manage technical project scope, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Create hydraulic and mechanical drawings for fabrication, construction, and installation.
- Establish design guidelines and standards for lubrication system upgrades, retrofits, and refurbishments.
- Investigate and resolve hydraulic system issues, including non-conformances and manufacturing deviations.
- Provide technical support to field service teams and customers.
- Engage with OEM clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.
- Conduct thorough testing, validation, and calibration of hydraulic systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, ISO, ANSI, and company policies.
- Stay updated on hydraulic technology trends to enhance system performance.
What You Bring:
- BSc or MSc in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, with 10+ years in hydraulic system design.
- Expertise in hydraulic engineering for heavy industry equipment; mining experience is a plus.
- Strong skills in hydraulic system design, including component sizing, pump and motor selection, filtration systems, and closed-loop systems.
- Experience of complex lubrication systems, piping design, and pressure drop calculations.
- Proficiency in 2D, 3D CAD, PLM software, and Autodesk products.
- Familiarity with hydraulic simulation and modeling software, e.g. Hydrosym, Automation Studio, FluidSIM ou Simcenter Amesim.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in system testing, simulation, and calibration.
- Experience in servo mechanisms, hydraulic transmitters/sensors, and mobile hydraulics.
- Knowledge of global hydraulic standards, such as ISO 4406, ISO 1219, API, SAE. Familiar with industry codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to work with international teams.
- Project management, training, and working with overseas customers.
- Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines under pressure.
- Self-motivated, with a high degree of autonomy.
- Willingness to travel for technical support and project follow-up.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with horizontal grinding mills and large-scale mining equipment.
- Background in modernization and retrofit projects for hydraulic systems.
- Experience in project management and agile methodologies.
