Introduction and Team you will belong to

The Product Support Engineer provides Tier 2 technical, commercial and application support for Mining Crusher Wears across APA / assigned Market Area, reporting to the Regional Product Support Manager / Business Support Manager – Mining Crusher Wears and partnering with Market Area sales, Tier 1 technical support, Product Management, Global Engineering/Tier 3, inventory, logistics and customers.

 

The role converts crusher wear, chamber optimization and crushing-circuit expertise into value-selling campaigns, complex proposals, trial plans, profitability improvements, product launches and customer solutions. It supports Metso and selected third-party crusher applications by combining site data, wear analysis, process modelling, pricing and inventory inputs to improve customer uptime, wear life, cost-per-ton, safety, delivery reliability and sales conversion.

The Role

  • Execute Mining Crusher Wears segment and regional strategy with Sales and Business Line stakeholders; build campaigns, opportunity funnel, priorities and growth plans for the assigned APA geography.
  • Support and/or lead complex sales cases as Tier 2 / Solution Lead, including chamber optimization, value-selling proposals, technical-commercial concept development, customer presentations, site visits, trial plans and negotiation support 
  • Gather and validate crusher, circuit and process data using site inspections, customer interviews, reports, 3D scanning / point-cloud data and relevant tools; translate findings into wear-part recommendations, chamber designs and commercial value arguments.
  • Coordinate with Global Engineering / Tier 3 on chamber optimization, engineering backlog prioritization, product suitability, technical escalations, trial results, wear profiles and non-standard solution requests 
  • Act as the key product-support interface from MA Sales toward Service Product Management, taking frontline feedback into product development, delivery, pricing, quality and offering improvement 
  • Review opportunities for profitability, technical risk and solution fit; support customer/contract-specific pricing exceptions where MALP or standard pricing requires escalation, ensuring margin discipline and documented approvals.
  • Support availability and inventory planning for new business, chamber optimization trials and strategic opportunities, including regional stocking recommendations and inputs to supply, supplier and logistics planning optimization, engineering backlog prioritization, product suitability, technical escalations, trial results, wear profiles and non-standard solution requests.
  • Drive new-product and innovation deployment by preparing value arguments, sales enablement material, best-practice guidance, technical content and launch support for MA teamsquality and offering improvement.
  • Support execution of major contracts, warranty investigations, inspection reports, installed-base validation, credit proposals and corrective recommendations, ensuring issues are fact-based, commercially sound and escalated when required.
  • Coach and train MA sales, TSS and customer-facing teams on offering, application selection, crushing process fundamentals, value selling, proposal quality, risk management and ways of selling.
  • Maintain disciplined use of Salesforce/CRM, Teamcenter, NX, AutoCAD, PolyWorks, Bruno and MS Office as relevant; ensure proposal, inspection, modelling, data and decision records are accurate and auditable.
  • Follow Metso HSE principles, sales process, proposal governance, risk-management procedures and ethical standards during customer engagement, site work, travel and commercial decision support optimization trials and strategic opportunities, including regional stocking recommendations and inputs to supply, supplier and logistics planning.

 

The successful candidate will possess the following:

Essential

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical/Process Engineering or equivalent mining-industry experience; strong technical orientation in crushing, screening, crusher wears, metallurgy, mechanical equipment, process performance and consumables sales.
  • Proven field performance in parts/consumables sales or product support, with capability to convert site data and customer pain points into clear technical recommendations, value propositions, proposals and business strategies.​
  • Strong commercial judgement, negotiation, presentation, relationship management, analytical problem-solving, time management and written communication skills; able to influence customers and internal stakeholders at multiple levels roposals and business strategies.​
  • Practical capability with AutoCAD, PolyWorks/point-cloud analysis, 3D scanning, MS Office and relevant Metso systems/tools; familiarity with Teamcenter, NX, Salesforce and Bruno is preferred
  • management and written communication skills; able to influence customers and internal stakeholders at multiple levels.​

  • Ability to travel approximately 25–50% across the assigned region, including site visits at short notice; current driver license, passport eligibility and ability to meet site access, HSE and drug/alcohol requirements ​

 

Desirable

  • Wear-part analysis, chamber optimization, crushing-circuit modelling, customer training, creative marketing/value-selling techniques, local supplier engagement and experience with both Metso and non-Metso crusher applications.
