At Metso, we are pioneers in sustainable technology, delivering solutions that transform the mining and aggregates industries. We are now seeking a Product Engineer, Electrical to play a key role in the continued development and standardisation of our Mill Reline Equipment (MRE) portfolio.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex capital equipment projects with global impact, collaborating with multidisciplinary experts across engineering, product management and market areas.

 

The role:

The role will report to the Product Engineering Manager, Electrical, and will provide dedicated support to the MRE group, working closely with the Director of Mill Reline Equipment. You will provide specialised electrical engineering expertise across product development and capital grinding projects. Your focus will be on the electrical and control system design, standardisation and productisation of Mill Reline Machines (MRMs), feed chute mobilisation solutions and liner removal tools. You will contribute directly to improving safety, reliability and performance of Metso’s MRE offering for customers worldwide.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Proposal Engineers, Market Areas and Lead Engineers to solve technical challenges and support the product roadmap
  • Develop standard electrical and control system designs for the MRE portfolio using Eplan Electric P8
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Itemise designs and integrate documentation within Enovia PDM
  • Participate in product risk assessments in line with ISO 12100
  • Ensure safety‑related control systems meet SRS requirements and ISO 13849
  • Review customer specifications, identify exceptions where required, and ensure final designs meet agreed requirements
  • Develop and maintain electrical product documentation, including specifications, FAT and SAT templates
  • Support IOMS manual development
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control systems to identify and resolve issues
  • Proactively suggest product improvements focused on reliability, robustness, quality and safety
  • Support development and maintenance of CODESYS‑based control systems
  • Occasionally attend Factory Acceptance Tests at supplier facilities
  • Provide occasional commissioning support, either remotely or on site

 

Who you are:

You are a technically strong, safety‑focused electrical engineer who enjoys working in a global, collaborative environment and contributing to high‑impact product development.
 
Experience and qualifications you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in electrical design, commissioning or equivalent
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience debugging operating electrical systems (local or remote)
  • Strong experience with Eplan Electric P8
  • In‑depth knowledge of electrical power systems, including motors, drives, MCCs, transformers and switchgear
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, instrumentation and automation
  • Sound understanding of international regulatory standards and statutory requirements
  • Knowledge of machine safety and functional safety standards
  • Advantageous experience:
  • Functional Safety Engineer (FS Eng) certification
  • Experience with CAN bus and CODESYS
  • Experience with mobile equipment
  • Experience using Enovia or similar PDM systems
