The Inside Sales Account Manager role is a high-impact commercial position designed for a professional who thrives in independent account ownership, proactive customer engagement, and growth execution.
In this role, the employee is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of accounts with established and emerging growth potential. Operating primarily in an office-based, digital-first environment, the ISAM ensures strong commercial outcomes while delivering consistent customer experience and value.
The role requires the ability to work autonomously, apply strong problem-solving skills, and demonstrate resilience in a target-driven environment. The Inside SAM is also expected to effectively use modern analytics and AI-enabled sales tools to analyse account data, identify opportunities, and drive business growth across the account portfolio.
While primarily office-based, travel to customer or mine sites may be required from time to time.
The Inside Sales Account Manager is responsible for delivering sustainable commercial growth through proactive account ownership, customer engagement, and disciplined sales execution.
- Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of accounts with established and emerging growth potential
- Develop a deep understanding of customer installed base, operating context, and short‑term service needs
- Proactively engage customers to identify opportunities within existing products and services
- Independently identify customers with growth potential and execute structured actions to increase account value, long‑term engagement, and strategic relevance
- Maintain consistent customer engagement primarily through phone, video, and digital channels, supported by selective onsite interaction
- Build and maintain a healthy sales funnel and drive order intake performance
- Own opportunity leads from identification through to order intake
- Prepare and manage standard quoting and offerings, leveraging internal stakeholders to deliver customer‑relevant solutions
- Analyse customer data including sales history, installed base, equipment ageing, and visit reports using CRM analytics and AI‑enabled insight tools
- Follow up quotations and proposals to secure orders
- Apply AI‑enabled sales and analytics tools to identify opportunity patterns, prioritise actions, and improve sales effectiveness
- Collaborate with Sales, Services, Supply Chain, Product, and Finance teams to resolve customer and delivery‑related challenges
- Apply structured problem‑solving skills to overcome objections, constraints, or technical‑commercial barriers
- Demonstrate resilience and persistence in progressing opportunities through complexity or resistance
- Take ownership of issues through to resolution, escalating appropriately when required
- Ensure full compliance with sales process, proposal management, and risk management procedures
- Maintain accurate and disciplined use of CRM systems, including customer activity logging and opportunity management
- Complete sales handover documentation to support effective transition into service delivery
- Support yearly budgeting, monthly forecasting, and weekly order intake reporting
- Communicate product and service updates to customers and provide structured feedback to the organisation
- Actively support Metso’s health, safety, and ethical standards and demonstrate behaviours aligned with company values
- Degree or Diploma in Metallurgy, Process Engineering, or a similar discipline (desirable)
- Proven track record of five years or more in achieving sales targets
- Demonstrated consistent year‑on‑year revenue growth in complex, high‑value sales environments
- Proven experience selling services, solutions, and lifecycle offerings, not solely capital equipment
- Strong ability to interpret technical data, process flows, and operational performance metrics
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance technical value and financial outcomes
- Highly autonomous, self‑driven, and comfortable operating in a target‑driven environment
- Outstanding negotiation, influencing, and executive‑level communication skills
- Consultative mindset with a strong customer‑outcome orientation
