INTRODUCTION:
Metso is a global leader in mineral processing solutions, delivering automation and process control systems for bulk material handling applications worldwide.
We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer with strong technical capability in PLC/SCADA development, industrial networking, and on‑site commissioning to support both customer project delivery and Metso’s standard product automation platform.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Producing detailed engineering design deliverables such as control philosophies, design specifications, I/O lists, and system architecture documents.
- Developing PLC logic, HMI interfaces and SCADA systems.
- Designing process and control system architectures for BMH applications, ensuring accuracy and alignment with functional requirements.
- Supporting FAT activities, including test procedure development and execution.
- Performing on-site commissioning, fault-finding, tuning, and validation of control systems and instrumentation.
- Providing technical support during installation, start-up, and customer acceptance stages.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of Metso’s standard automation product portfolio.
- Collaborating with internal engineering teams, service teams, and customers to ensure successful delivery of automation solutions.
WHO YOU ARE:
Essential Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering or technology in Electrical / Electronics / Electronics and telecommunication / Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent with a minimum experience of 3 years
- Proven proficiency in:
- PLC programming on GE, Schneider platforms
- SCADA development, particularly AVEVA (Citect) SCADA, and CIMPLICITY SCADA AVEVA (Citect)
- Bulk material handing process experience.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose control system issues under operational constraints.
- Effective communication skills for working directly with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Factory Acceptance Testing
- Site based Control system commissioning.
Desirable Experience
- PLC development in Siemens, ABB and Rockwell Automation software.
- InTouch, and Factory Talk View SCADA development.
- Designing process automation solutions for OEM equipment.
- Project management.
- Variable speed drive design and commissioning.
- Plant Historians and Databases.
- Engineers’ Australia membership (or eligible).
