Introduction and Team You Will Belong To
The Business Development Manager – Service Operations is a senior, field‑based commercial role responsible for driving sustainable growth across a defined territory. Reporting to the Director – Sales, this role works in close partnership with Sales Directors (North & South) and the Director, Service Operations.
You will operate as part of the wider sales and service leadership community, collaborating with service operations, technical specialists, and account management teams to position the organisation as a long‑term operational partner to customers. The role is highly autonomous and suited to an experienced commercial leader operating in complex mining and industrial environments.
The Role – Responsibilities
The core purpose of this role is to deliver revenue, margin, and market share growth by expanding service, repairs, aftermarket, and lifecycle solutions across the region. Key responsibilities include:

Owning and delivering orders, revenue, and gross margin targets for the assigned territory

Developing and executing regional growth plans aligned with market conditions and installed base opportunities

Proactively identifying and developing new service revenue streams, including service agreements, upgrades, retrofits, and reliability solutions

Leading strategic and key customer relationships, acting as the primary commercial interface for service operations

Building strong, multi‑level customer relationships across operational, technical, procurement, and executive stakeholders

Conducting site visits and operational assessments to identify performance improvement and reliability opportunities

Translating technical insights into data‑driven, commercially compelling proposals and business cases
-
Maintaining a strong understanding of market dynamics, competitor activity, and emerging industry trends

Managing pipeline, forecasting, and deal governance through Salesforce CRM with high commercial discipline
-
Championing a zero‑harm safety culture and ensuring ethical, compliant business practices
The Successful Candidate Will Possess the Following
The successful candidate will bring a strong combination of commercial leadership, technical understanding, and customer‑centric capability, including:

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mining, Civil) or a related technical or commercial discipline

7–10+ years’ experience in senior business development or sales roles within mining, heavy industry, or industrial services

A proven track record of consistent revenue growth in complex, high‑value service and solutions environments

Demonstrated experience selling services, solutions, and lifecycle offerings rather than purely capital equipment

Strong ability to interpret technical data, operational performance metrics, and process flows
-
High commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer value and financial outcomes
-
Excellent negotiation, influencing, and executive‑level communication skills

A consultative, customer‑outcome‑focused mindset

High autonomy, resilience, and accountability in a field‑based role
