The Role Responsibilities:
This is an entry level role into Project Management.
The Associate Project Manager will have three primary responsibilities:

Commencement to completion responsibility for low to medium value projects.

Assume responsibilities of Senior/Project Manager during periods of leave.

Provide administrative support and scheduling.
The Associate Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery and support of smaller E&I projects, typically under $1M AUD in the APA region.
The Associate Project Manager will be required to take responsibility as the nominated customer contact, provide customer liaison, integration with the relevant business lines and suppliers in order to steer the project to successful completion.
The Associate Project Manager may be responsible for all aspects of project delivery in accordance with Metso well defined procedures, processes and policies, the contract requirements as well as the relevant regulations and industry standards that may apply.
In addition to dealing with the technical and commercial aspects of various projects the Associate Project Manager must be able to work independently and may be required to provide schedules, develop and present professional progress and financial reports and manage small project teams and associated site activities.
The Associate Project Manager needs to have sound engineering background with some commercial experience alongside solid verbal and written communication skills.
In addition, the Associate Project Manager may also be called upon to provide support to the Manager of Projects with respect to management report compilation and the implementation of new procedures, practices and guidelines, and other support activities as may be required on occasion.
As Associate Project Manager your daily, weekly, monthly tasks may include:-

Participate in Sales Handover and Project Kick off meetings.

Initiate project set up in accordance with Metso procedures.

Set up the project Sales Order and Work Breakdown Structure in SAP.

Set up project files, including execution strategy, project management plan, quality plan, project schedule and other key project documents as required.

Carry out both project budget, scope of works and contract commercial reviews prior to, and as part of the mandatory internal project handover meeting.

Chair client kick off meetings.

Coordinate the delivery of the appropriate commercial documents such as insurance certificates and bank guarantees.

Ensure clear understanding and management of the project requirements (SOW) and battery limits, along with conformity to the relevant governing regulations and standards.

Ensure there is a clear and detailed project schedule (typically MS Project or P6), and that it is adequately monitored to drive on time achievement of milestones and delivery of the project deliverables.

Prepare internal and external progress reports, and participation in progress report meetings, or steering committee meetings as may be required.

Develop and maintain project risk registers, as per Metso standard format, and implement strategies to minimise project risks.

Attend customer design review meetings, and HAZOPS as required to ensure there is correct interpretation of customer and compliance requirements as the project progresses.

Monitor engineering progress for the respective equipment packages by global business line engineering centres and ensure timely provision of information to the customer such as equipment specifications and drawings.

Coordinate the development and compilation of project documentation such as functional specifications, requirements traceability, control philosophies, maintenance manuals etc.

Facilitate the flow of technical documents and information between Metso and the customer or with suppliers.

Prepare purchase requisitions and manufacturing specifications for the procurement of all items required under the contract(s).

Prepare (or expedite) and review ITPs and the compilation of MDR dossiers.

Prepare packing lists, shipping instructions and shipping documentation and coordinate unloading activities that may require cranage at the point of delivery.

Formulate written communications to customers, sub-contractors and other stakeholders from time to time.

Support the proposals group in preparing estimates and proposals for various aggregates or mining prospects as may be requested.

Undertake special assignments delegated by the Manager of Projects as required.

Carry out any other activities, training, reporting or attendance at meetings that may be commensurate with the role and general employment with Metso.
Essential

Strong leadership and influencing skills.

Excellent organizational and time management skills to be able to meet tight deadlines.

Five or more years exposure and knowledge related to the mining industry specifically within the electrical and control systems engineering.

Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Control Systems or Mechatronics Engineering

Strong mathematical capabilities.

Sound working ability with MS Word, Excel, MS Project and SAP.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Must have a current driver’s license and vehicle.

Must have a current passport.
Desirable

Tertiary Qualification in Project Management or Business Management.

Chartered Engineer

Demonstrated experience in Functional Safety
