Job Description  of  Senior Engineer, Proposal,  Bulk Material Handling (BMH)

We are looking for dedicated professionals who have a strong Proposal and estimation knowledge in the field of Material handling equipment to work closely with the Global Engineering Team and Global Product Line Teams to drive the harmonization and globalization of our proposals.

As a newly combined company Metso creates a unique workplace offering a strong platform for growth and innovation. The GBPS Business Line needs experienced and detail-oriented Engineers to support the Bulk proposals on various bulk material handling equipment like

• Apron feeders,
• Rail Car handling equipment (Wagon Tippler, Car dumper etc.)
• Stock yard handling equipment & Port handling equipment
• Conveyors

Team you belong to

The candidate will be part of the GBPS Team based in Vadodara, Gujarat (India), supporting multiple material handling proposals. The successful candidate must be proactive and able to demonstrate the ability to work independently, but also in a team orientated environment. Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

What you’ll do 

• Lead proposal engineers in developing feasible solutions for complex demands.
• Develop relationships with suppliers by conducting direct quotations or through the procurement team.
• Prepare proposals for new equipment, replacements, retrofits, and spare parts.
• Analyze customer requests, their needs, requirements, and special conditions.
• Ensure the proposal is feasible and commercially competitive while mitigating risks.
• Develop standard proposals and budget spreadsheets.
• Perform handover of sold projects to the contracts team
• Maintain a commitment to quality, ethics, and safety.
• Interpret customer data sheet / specifications and create design calculation with standards to meet the requirement.
• Ability to read technical drawings.
• Develop internal programs and procedures for process improvement.
• Travel (up to 20%) may be required as needed, including both domestically and internationally.
• Ability to organize, prioritize tasks in a dynamic multi-project environment.
• Understanding need for confidentiality and ensure to secure company intellectual property.
• Ensuring that all responsibilities are met in accordance with company values, and procedures.
• Technical Interaction with team members and customers to improve performance.
• Perform calculations to ensure safe function of equipment for refurbishment, upgrade, or retrofit.

Who you are

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering /Master’s in mechanical discipline with minimum 8+ years experience in Proposal and Experience with Yard Machines ( Stacker, Reclaimers) and/or Wagon Tippler.

Technical Competencies:

• Applicants need to have significant experience with relevant experience (+8 years) in the above listed products from reputed companies would be preferred.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Competent problem solver with sound understanding of engineering principles. Good interpersonal communication skills.Advanced English.

Software Competencies:

• Knowledge of AutoCAD and others 2D & 3D drafting softwares
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge on SAP would be an added advantage.
• Knowledge on Sales Force would be an added advantage.
