Engineer – Bulk Material Handling (GBPS) – Job Description

Introduction

We are seeking a Engineer – Bulk Material Handling (BMH) to join our Operational Engineering team in Vadodara, India. The team delivers engineering support for material-handling equipment and offers refurbishment, upgrade, and service solutions for global customers.

This position is based in Vadodara, Gujarat, and may require minimal travel.

The candidate will be a key member of the Grinding Bulk Pyro Smelting (GBPS) Services (SVS) Engineering Team based in Vadodara, Gujarat, and will provide technical support for Bulk Material Handling equipment.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop heavy fabrication components, feeders, conveying equipment, stockyard systems, port & bulk terminal equipment.
• Prepare detailed mechanical drawings/documentation, including 2D and 3D, general arrangement (GA), detailed drawings, bills of materials (BOM), specifications, and assembly instructions.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles and industry best practices to meet customer requirements, technical specifications, and project standards.
• Identify and resolve engineering issues, collaborating closely with client representatives to ensure timely problem resolution, clear feedback, and corrective actions for any deviations.
• Organize and prioritize tasks effectively while working in a dynamic, multi‑project environment.
• Ensure timely, cost‑effective, and high‑quality delivery of all engineering tasks and project deliverables.
• Utilize Operational Engineering standards, workflows, and software tools to generate accurate engineering data and drawings.
• Maintain a positive, professional attitude and collaborate effectively as part of a global engineering team.
• Travel may be required, both domestically and internationally, based on project needs.
  

Who you are

• Diploma/BE in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or ITI Mechanical Draftsman with 8+ years of experience.
• Proven experience in the design and engineering of heavy equipment.
• Hands‑on expertise in heavy engineering fabrication drawings, casting drawings, and general arrangement (GA) drawings.
• Strong understanding of material standards and dimensional standards applicable to heavy machinery.
• Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD tools, including Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, and other relevant software.
• Skilled in using EDM, PLM and ERP systems, such as Vault, SAP, Enovia, and other required platforms.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Hands‑on experience in the design and engineering of heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of international standards, including ISO, IS, DIN, ASME, ANSI, and European dimensional and material standards.
• Extensive experience in checking mechanical and structural drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
• Proficient understanding of drafting and design standards, including application of specifications/codes, design intent, tolerances, welding requirements, and accurate BOM generation.
• Hands‑on experience with GD&T, welding symbols, and machining symbols.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Strong communication skills, suitable for collaborating in a global environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, well‑organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
