Job Description: Designer  Autodesk Inventor

 

Introduction

 

We are seeking a highly skilled Designer with strong expertise in Autodesk Inventor 3D modeling, weldment structures, and a solid understanding of manufacturing and machining processes. The ideal candidate will support engineering teams by creating accurate 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, and technical documentation in alignment with global engineering standards. Experience with Autodesk Vault Professional is a significant advantage.

 

Team

 

You will collaborate with Global Engineering Teams, Product Line Teams, and Manufacturing Units to deliver high‑quality engineering documentation and support product development, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

What You’ll Do

 

3D Modeling & Drafting

  • Develop high-quality 3D models, assemblies, and sub‑assemblies using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings, weldment drawings, and fabrication documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with global drafting standards, GD&T, and BOM accuracy.

2D Drawing & Manufacturing Documentation

  • Generate 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D models.
  • Apply GD&T, tolerances, and standard drawing practices.
  • Ensure drawings meet manufacturing and machining requirements.

BOM Preparation

  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) derived from 3D assemblies.
  • Ensure accuracy of part structure, quantities, metadata, and revision information.

Weldment & Structural Design

  • Create detailed weldment structures, frame assemblies, and fabrication layouts.
  • Apply knowledge of welding methods, weld symbols, and relevant structural standards.

Data & Documentation Management

  • Manage CAD files, revisions, and engineering documents using Autodesk Vault (Professional preferred).
  • Follow configuration management and engineering change management processes.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work with cross‑functional engineering teams to develop and optimize designs.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into engineering deliverables.

Data Migration Activities

  • Support migration of CAD models, drawings, and engineering data from legacy systems.
  • Perform data validation, standardization, and corrections as required.
  • Ensure proper structuring and uploading into target data management systems.

 

Who You Are

 

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, and CAD modeling.
  • Strong hands‑on expertise in:
    • Autodesk Inventor (3D modeling, sheet metal, weldments)
    • Manufacturing & machining fundamentals
    • Engineering drawings, GD&T, and BOM creation
  • Experience in BOM creation and structuring.
  • Exposure to Data Migration or CAD conversion activities is preferred.
  • Added advantages:
    • Knowledge of Autodesk Vault Professional
    • Exposure to fabrication and shop floor processes
  • Ability to manage multiple design tasks with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and in a global engineering environment.
