Metso, a global leader in sustainable technologies, comprehensive solutions, and services for the minerals processing, aggregates, metal recycling, and waste management industries, is looking for a Logistics Specialist.
This position is located in Ulaanbaatar.
What you’ll do:
- Inbound and Outbound Transportation:
- Arrange inbound and outbound transportation in accordance with the operating model and terms & conditions (e.g., Incoterms).
- Expediting and tracking shipments, with particular focus on critical breakdown orders
- Provide information and support to stakeholders regarding operational logistics and possibilities.
- Maintain close communication with customs agents and carriers in global and local logistics operations.
- Coordinate and monitor the activities of third parties, such as customs brokers and carriers, to mitigate any risks to the company.
- Working in line with Metso global transportation framework agreements for both international and domestic freight movements.
- Adhering to Metso global policies, procedures and guidelines, legal requirements, trade compliance regulations, and ethical standards.
- Highlight risks where foreseeable and mitigate them where possible.
- Import and Export Formalities:
- Ensure local import and export customs compliance is established and maintained in accordance with global, local regulations and Metso's global/regional guidelines.
- Oversee logistics operations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements set by local governmental authorities.
- Maintain electronic records of each import/export transaction, ensuring that all information declared to customs authorities is accurate.
- Resolve issues related to inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with applicable import and export laws.
- Ensure all logistics documentation is accurate and complete for transportation.
- Obtain missing or requested information and facilitate documentation corrections from customs brokers to support customs clearance.
- Monitoring, Follow-Up, and Proactive Communication:
- Perform daily follow-up on inbound and outbound shipments, coordinating with the customs brokers and carriers for release, and monitoring the shipment until it reaches the customer site.
- Make records and issue relevant documentation from company’s ERP system for customers.
- Generate and review daily reports on outbound and inbound shipments.
- Oversee shipping and loading activities, ensuring adherence to terms & conditions (e.g., Incoterms).
- Provide operational support for warehouse functions and address product quality issues related to warehouse operations.
- Quality Control and Claims Handling:
- Manage product quality inspections during inbound goods receiving and address potential claims with shippers in alignment with other functions.
- Handle customer claims and implement corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate warranty and claim processes to ensure customer satisfaction and timely resolution in collaboration with internal departments.
- Collaborate with specific Business Lines for product quality and inspection-related support.
- Participate in projects related to warehouse operations.
- Expenses management and Record-Keeping
- Keep accurate records of all expenses related to customs clearance (duties, fees, etc.), third-party payments and carrier costs.
- Ensure timely and proactive processing of payments to third party vendors (e.g. customs temporary warehouse, etc.) and carriers.
- Monitor and report on logistics expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Collaborate with finance/accountant teams to ensure expenses are done on-time, properly documented and reconciled.
- Key performance indicators
- On-Time Delivery (OTD): Ensure that all shipments are delivered to customers on or before the promised date.
- Delivery In-Full (DIF): Maintain a Delivery in Full rate as higher as possible, ensuring that all orders are delivered with complete quantities.
- Customs compliance: Achieve 100% compliance with local and international customs regulations, with no penalties or delays due to non-compliance.
- Record, control and report KPIs of customs brokers and carriers
We expect that you have:
- Bachelor degree
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in logistics (required)
- Experience in process optimization, operations, or business management
- Familiarity with IT tools and ERP/integrated system (SAP)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- English (intermediate or higher) speaking and writing
- Strong drive to meet targets and customer demands
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere
- Dynamic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Capability to articulate and communicate topics within the area of expertise
- Highly motivated individuals with the ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
