We are seeking a Plant Development Engineer, Turku Factory, to join our Beneficiation, Dewatering and Hydrometallurgy (BDH) Industrial Operations team in the Services BA! The Turku Factory manufactures technical ceramics for Metso’s customers. The main purpose of the role is to develop sustainable and efficient manufacturing processes, methods, and tooling, including improved manufacturing flow sheets, layouts, and energy-efficient solutions, together with the team. The position reports to the Plant Manager, Turku Factory. 


This position is located in Turku.


What you do


•    Develop continuously safe and sustainable manufacturing-related topics such as processes, equipment, and tools, and support factory teams with engineering topics 
•    Execute & supervise plant-related development projects, manufacturing equipment, and factory layouts, and supervise the contractors’ design work related to plant process
•    Participate in Net Zero initiatives, development of the factory, and support actions via technical and process development
•    Assist in experimental testing planning and execution in the factory
•    Ensure, create, and manage documentation in your own responsibility area
•    Collaborate and cooperate with other stakeholders at Metso and external vendors to gain the best possible solutions


Who you are


•    Min. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Manufacturing, Process or Industrial Engineering, Materials)
•    Good knowledge of industrial and design standards and machine safety regulations, and a safety-first attitude
•    Ability to at least read and interpret drawings and industrial manuals
•    Minimum basic knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, and electrification
•    Knowledge of maintenance practices and demands of industrial machines and factories
•    Working experience in development tasks and successful design work with products, layouts & processes 
•    Working experience in process-type manufacturing with demanding engineering materials as ceramics, is seen as an asset
•    Know-how and experience in SolidWorks or other similar mechanical design tools and process design tools are seen as an asset
•    Know-how in industrial processes, energy, and sustainable production
•    Good spoken and written communication skills in English and Finnish
•    Technology orientation, motivation, and willingness to continuously learn new and positively question old
•    Proactive, innovative mindset and hands-on approach to technology and engineering 
•    Collaborative working style with all stakeholders in a multinational and diversified working environment
