Introduction
We are seeking a Field Service Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for providing hands on mechanical service work to our clients and being the technical liaison between the client, product division and our sales team.
The role will be based from Newcastle and will report to Field Service Manager – East.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of technicians located around Australia. We work closely together with our internal technicians, coordinators and wider team as well as externally with our clients.
What you’ll do
• Complete field machine inspections
• Provide hands-on mechanical service work in the field to Metso customers
• Provide technical liaison services between customers, product divisions and sales personnel
• Perform technical evaluations and analyse equipment and machine component failures
• Understand drawings and schematics to ensure correct processes are followed
• Supervise and oversee Field Service projects on customer sites
• Escalate questions and analysis to Technical Support and Engineering
• Support quotation work by providing scope of work, initial planning and costing information
• Promote products and services to customers
• Prepare post site reports, timesheets and expenses after site visits
• Promote Technical Support value add and support Technical Support Teams
• Some Interstate and some international travel may apply. This role comes with some physical work requirements.
Who you are
Essential
• A Mechanical trade qualification from college or technical school, OR
• Three to six years relevant experience and/or training
• Demonstrate understanding and compliance around safety regulation and standards
• Physically fit and able to pass a medical, with no site restrictions to perform duties
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics
• Ability to travel within short notice
• Understanding operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to read and understand a variety of written instructions
• Ability to complete basic engineering calculations such as basic algebra, geometry etc.
• Provide standard hand tools applicable to task
• Current driver’s license
Desirable
• Basic rigging and dogging understanding
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence (Word, Excel)
