INTRODUCTION:

We are currently seeking an Apprentice Painter Blaster for the Tomago Service Centre, NSW to assist with the painting of sections of screens and crushers.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Assist with the preparation of surfaces for painting using blasting techniques including use of a grinder, according to specifications set out on drawings.
- Develop skills to perform routine maintenance of production tools to specifications.
- Develop skills to learn basic process planning applicable to paint and blast shop planning activities.
- Operate hand tools and power tools appropriate to the job.
- Operate forklift/crane where required.
- Order materials for replacement of consumable items where needed.
- Manual handling of loads with weights varying between 5-20kg.
- Collaborating with experienced tradespeople to learn the latest techniques and best practices; whilst taking instructions from Paint Shop Leading Hand.
- Adhering to safe work practices and report immediately any unsafe acts or equipment.
- Working within the provided OHS policies and procedures.
- Promptly reporting all accidents, hazards and near misses within the allocated timeframe.
- Stopping work activities and acting, if there is a belief that there may be an uncontrolled risk to you or other people.
- Accepting responsibilities, following procedures and notifying the Supervisor if the job requirements are unclear to you.
- Only undertaking tasks for which you are competent and only using equipment that you have been trained to use.
- Using the Company’s safety tools to assist in controlling the hazards, which apply to each task you undertake.
- Participating in Toolbox Talks and workplace inspections as required.
- Speaking up to improve safety.
- Keep the workshop supervisor informed of TAFE requirements well in advance.
- Inform the supervisor of any absence from TAFE.
WHO YOU ARE:
- An enthusiastic approach to each new challenge.
- Willingness to undertake general housekeeping duties within the workshop environment.
- The ability to work well within a team, take instructions and learn from others.
- Current driver’s license.
- Knowledge and experience in safe work practices.
- Good planning and organising skills to meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic mathematical ability.
- A strong commitment to both personal safety and the safety of others around them
- Certificate II in Automotive Body Repair Technology (Commercial Coating) desirable
- 2ndand 3rd year apprentices are welcome to apply
