Introduction to the role

The Financial Procurement Controller provides financial governance, procurement controlling, commercial analysis and pricing/contract support for the Consumables (CNS) Supply Chain. Reporting to the VP Consumables Procurement with a direct dotted line to the VP Finance Supply Chain head, the role partners with Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, Legal and regional teams to strengthen cost transparency, price accuracy, contract value, savings delivery, working-capital discipline, controls and decision-making.

Main responsibilities

• Partner with the VP Consumables Procurement and CNS Procurement leaders on budgets, forecasts, savings, margins, working capital and commercial risk.

• Maintain spend, supplier, contract, price and purchase-price-variance reporting, including dashboards, variance commentary and executive decision support.

• Support sourcing events, supplier awards, contract negotiations and renewals through TCO, should-cost, benchmarking, scenario modelling and commercial recommendations.

• Review and challenge supply agreement financial terms, including pricing, escalation/indexation, FX, rebates, discounts, payment terms, Incoterms, warranty/liability and other risks.

• Govern approved price files, effective dates, audit trails and contract-leakage controls across SAP/ERP, procurement systems and supplier agreements.

• Track and validate realised savings, cost avoidance, inflation recovery, rebates/claims and procurement benefits under Finance and Procurement standards.

• Support budget, forecast, month-end and accrual processes for procurement cost drivers, including commodities, freight, duties, MOQ, lead times, inventory and working capital.

• Identify risks and opportunities across supplier performance, contract compliance, landed cost, price leakage, supplier financial health and cross-regional sourcing decisions.

• Ensure compliance with Metso procurement policy, Delegation/LoA, internal controls, audit requirements, ethical conduct and legal/commercial approval processes.

• Prepare business cases and approval papers for sourcing strategy, contract approvals, pricing changes, supplier decisions and commercial improvements.

• Improve procurement analytics, automation, Power BI/reporting, data quality and standardised financial controls.

To succeed

Essential

• Strong finance, controlling, FP&A, commercial or procurement finance experience, preferably in supply chain, manufacturing, minerals, services or global matrix environments.

• Demonstrated capability in contract/pricing analysis, sourcing financial modelling, TCO/should-cost, savings validation, PPV analysis, forecasting and decision support.

• Advanced Excel and data-analysis capability; confident user of SAP/ERP, procurement systems and Power BI or equivalent reporting tools.

• Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to explain financial and procurement matters clearly to regional and global stakeholders.

• Strong commercial judgement, governance mindset, attention to detail, stakeholder influencing and ability to challenge constructively.

• Able to operate independently across regions, prioritise deadlines and convert complex data into practical business recommendations.

Desirable

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics or Supply Chain; CPA/CA/CIMA or equivalent desirable.

• Exposure to FX, indexation/escalation, Incoterms, inventory/working-capital, landed-cost analysis, global suppliers and supplier negotiation support.
