JOB TITLE: TECHNICAL ADVISOR – SOLWEZI, ZAMBIA
We are looking for a Technical Advisor to join our Services team in the Zambia area.
In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our customer, driving operational performance, equipment reliability, and long-term value creation across mining and concentrator operations while strengthening Metso’s partnership and service offering.
You will report to the LCS Contract Manager, and the role location is Solwezi, Zambia, with an onsite working model.
Team you will belong to
You will join our Services team, focused on supporting customer operations through technical expertise, maintenance excellence, and continuous improvement. The team works closely with customers and internal stakeholders to maximize equipment performance, improve plant availability, and identify opportunities to expand value-adding services.
The team collaborates with sales, technical sales support, field services, project managers, and customer personnel to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable outcomes.
What you'll do
- Provide engineering oversight across mining and concentrator operations, ensuring optimal performance of Metso equipment, including crushers, screens, pumps, grinding mills, flotation equipment, and thickeners.
- Identify, develop, and implement opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and service delivery to the customer.
- Develop and support preventive and corrective maintenance strategies aligned with OEM recommendations and operational best practices.
- Lead root cause failure investigations, support breakdown resolution, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure maintenance activities are executed in accordance with customer requirements, safety standards, and Metso best practices.
- Advise on capital projects, engineering improvements, and equipment upgrades while presenting business plans and improvement strategies to customer leadership.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including sales, technical support, field services, and project management resources, to support customer success.
- Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with operational, engineering, and regulatory requirements.
What you'll bring
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
- Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting or Millwright trade.
- Extensive experience in mining engineering, maintenance, or plant operations environments.
- Proven experience leading maintenance teams or supervising maintenance activities within mining or minerals processing operations.
- Strong knowledge of concentrator plants, particularly crushing and grinding circuits.
- Demonstrated ability to develop maintenance strategies, improve equipment reliability, and drive operational performance.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, asset management, and maintenance best practices.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis and develop practical solutions to complex operational challenges.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, coach, and build trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, presentation, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in demanding operational environments.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to identify and develop opportunities that enhance customer value and support business growth.
- Experience working with Metso equipment and technologies would be highly advantageous
