Introduction

 

Metso, a global leader in sustainable technologies, comprehensive solutions, and services for the minerals processing, aggregates, metal recycling, and waste management industries, is looking for a Project Translator/Interpreter – EPS Project, located in Tashkent.

 

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled Project Translator/Interpreter to join our EPS project team in Tashkent. You’ll work closely with our existing local translator and collaborate daily with our translation team in Espoo, Finland. Together, you’ll ensure seamless communication across borders and help drive the success of a major international project. This is a dynamic role where your language skills will directly support engineering, design, and stakeholder engagement in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

 

Responsibilities and duties on this position:

 

  • Interpret at project meetings, seminars, trainings, and site/supplier visits in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and other regional locations.
  • Translate technical documents and communications between English and Russian, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and appropriate tone.
  • Review and refine translations to ensure consistency with original materials, especially in technical terminology.
  • Liaise with customer representatives, design institutes, and other stakeholders on a wide range of project topics.
  • Keep the Espoo-based translation team informed about local developments and translation needs.

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • Fluency in English and Russian; knowledge of Uzbek, Finnish, or German is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in all working languages.
  • A degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in English–Russian translation and interpretation, ideally in technical or industrial settings.
  • A background in engineering or technical fields is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with technical terminology in the minerals and metals industry.
  • Experience using CAT tools, especially SDL Trados and SDL Multiterm.
