Introduction
We are looking for a a Product Development Engineer to join our Crusher Wears Engineering & RTD team in Tampere.
As a Product Development Engineer, your main responsibility is to deliver product documentation and designs according to instructions. You will be handling product development data with CAD and other tools and assist in Chamber Optimization (CHOP) projects as well as in RTD projects.
Later on, you will be responsible for the technical solution on given Chamber Optimization (CHOP) projects for our mining customers. The projects are proposed by market areas and evaluated by Product Management of Crusher Wears business line. Target for each project is to increase the wears business as well as to increase customer satisfaction and commitment to Metso. This position also participates to customer meetings related to CHOP projects and is responsible of development and technical support of crusher wears and provide the wear part know how to Metso employees.
This position is based in Tampere. We also hope that you are willing to travel when needed (up to 10% of the time).
What you'll do
- Create and maintain 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and product data in NX and PDM systems.
- Conduct wear part analyses, including 3D scanning, inspections, wear profile evaluations, and simulations.
- Participate in product development projects for R&D and customer applications.
- Present development proposals, provide technical support, and participate in customer meetings.
- Perform chamber optimization projects and support technical enquiries.
- Visit mining sites to present solutions, collect field data, and conduct audits.
What you'll bring
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Development, Materials Engineering or a related field
- Experience using 3D CAD tools such as NX, Inventor or SolidWorks
- Interest in mechanical design and product development in heavy industry
- Ability to solve technical problems and communicate design solutions clearly
- Strong English communication skills
- Knowledge of crushers, crushing/mining process, or crusher wear parts is considered as advantage
