We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our Thickener and Clarifier Delivery Engineering team. This is a key role within our business, leading design activities and providing high-quality engineering support across a wide range of projects involving Thickener technologies.
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior role where you’ll influence technical outcomes, contribute to high-profile projects, and collaborate with talented teams across the globe. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will play a vital part in delivering innovative and reliable solutions to our clients.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will:
- Lead, mentor, and provide guidance to engineers, designers, and draftspersons, ensuring technical accuracy and best practice.
- Take ownership of the mechanical engineering aspects of projects and integrate with other design disciplines.
- Prepare engineering documentation including technical specifications, datasheets, and equipment/maintenance manuals.
- Oversee technical aspects of procurement activities, ensuring supplier deliverables meet project, design, and QEHS requirements.
- Conduct fabrication workshop and site inspections of plant and equipment as required.
- Participate in and lead cold commissioning of domestic and international projects when needed.
- Attend client meetings, design reviews, HAZOP studies, and design risk assessments.
- Work closely with Delivery teams across global Market Areas to ensure smooth project execution.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering. Structural engineering is preferred.
- 5–8 years’ design experience in medium to large process industry projects (preferably in mining industry).
- Strong knowledge of structural and mechanical engineering principles and practices, including fluid mechanics and equipment design.
- Proven experience with design tools such as FEA packages (Strand7 and Microstran). SolidWorks (3D modelling) skill is a plus.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
- Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities across all project phases.
- Ability to self-manage, lead a team, and deliver multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with accountability for delivering on time and within budget.
- Willingness to undertake occasional short-term travel (domestic and international).
- Competency with MS Project or similar project management tools (desirable)
