Introduction

 

We are seeking a Reliability Specialist to join our Service team. This role is ideal for a certified NDT technician who enjoys travel, embraces innovation, and is eager to contribute to cutting-edge industrial maintenance solutions. You will perform advanced digital inspections using state-of-the-art tools to assess gears, mill shells, and other critical components on Metso’s large variety of equipment.

In this position, you will report to Field Service Manager, Comminution.

 

This position is mainly located in Sudbury, ON but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. There will be 70% travel required for the role.

You will join a team of NDT experts and reliability engineers dedicated to ensuring the safety and efficiency of our mining operations. We are passionate about leveraging advanced non-destructive testing techniques to maintain the integrity of our equipment and infrastructure.

 

We work closely with internal stakeholders, such as maintenance managers, operations teams, and safety officers, as well as external stakeholders, including third-party inspection agencies and equipment manufacturers. Our team culture is all about collaboration, continuous improvement, and a commitment to safety. The members in our team are located in Kelowna, BC and Ontario.

 

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Perform NDT Field Inspections: Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) field inspections in compliance with industry, client, and company standards.
  • Equipment Setup and Calibration: Set up, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment; interpret and evaluate results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation of all testing activities.
  • Testing Criteria Application: Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications and procedures to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality service and ensure effective communication.
  • Service Promotion and Issue Escalation: Promote company services and escalate technical issues when necessary to ensure client satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Safety and Professionalism: Ensure safety and professionalism in all field activities, adhering to best practices and safety regulations.

 

Who you are

 

  • Minimum 5 years of NDT field experience.
  • CGSB Level 1 or 2 certification in at least one method (UT, MT, or Phased Array).
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass drug/alcohol screening.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel.
  • Preferred knowledge in mining and industrial fields (e.g., welding, metallurgy).
  • Familiarity with Metso products is an asset.
  • Strong technical knowledge of NDT methods and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French (written and verbal).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and able to work independently under pressure.
  • Physically capable of working in diverse environments (cold, heat, humidity).
  • Ability to read and apply technical documents and procedures in the field.
