In this role, you will support and contribute to the development of engineering solutions for customer projects, equipment upgrades, modifications, retrofits, and technical problem-solving across our installed base of Grinding Mills and associated systems.
This position focuses on project execution, technical delivery, component selection, and engineering support for upgrades, modifications, and aftermarket activities, including participation in equipment troubleshooting and repair situations.
Hands-on experience with equipment assembly, field troubleshooting, shutdown support, repairs, or commissioning will be considered a strong advantage.
This position reports to the South America Manager, GBPS Project Engineering and is based on-site in Sorocaba, Brazil (100% on-site role). Approximately 10% travel is required annually. After a minimum of one year in the role, and depending on performance and team needs, a remote work arrangement of one day per week may be considered.
Team, You Belong To
You will work in a global and collaborative engineering environment, interacting daily with mechanical engineers, structural engineers, designers, project chiefs, and field specialists across multiple regions.
Our mission is to deliver reliable, safe, and cost-efficient engineering solutions for Grinding equipment, including but not limited to:
- SAG Mills, Ball Mills, and Rod Mills
- Grinding mill components such as shells, heads, trunnions, bearings, girth gears, pinions, lubrication systems, and drive systems
Our scope includes engineering support for maintenance, upgrades, refurbishments, retrofits, and breakdown situations.
We collaborate closely with internal teams such as Project Management, Proposal, Strategic Sourcing, Field Service, and global Grinding Product Engineering teams.
The team culture fosters collaboration, adaptability, and a strong problem-solving mindset, with a continuous focus on learning and development across global teams.
What You’ll Do
• Support the mechanical engineering scope for Grinding equipment projects, including upgrades, refurbishments, modifications, and retrofit solutions.
• Develop and review 3D models, 2D detail drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) in collaboration with designers and engineering teams.
• Assist in performing mechanical and basic structural calculations related to Grinding equipment (e.g., stresses, wear components, bearings, bolted joints, rotating components).
• Support the selection of mechanical components such as drive systems, gearboxes, couplings, bearings, lubrication systems, and related elements.
• Collaborate with Field Service and engineering teams to support equipment troubleshooting, maintenance activities, and improvement initiatives.
• Participate in field assessments and incorporate site-specific constraints into engineering solutions.
• Support aftermarket engineering activities, including upgrades, repairs, and refurbishment projects for existing equipment.

• Experience: Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in mechanical engineering or project engineering of industrial equipment. Experience with Grinding equipment in the mining industry is preferred.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault, etc.) and good understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of machine design principles, including structural behavior, material selection, and power transmission systems.
• Breakdown Experience: Experience supporting equipment troubleshooting or breakdown situations is considered a plus.
• Industry Knowledge: Good understanding of Grinding equipment and components described in the “Team You Belong To” section.
