Introduction

We are seeking a Lead Hydraulic Engineer to serve as the technical authority for hydraulic systems within our Bulk Material Handling (BMH) product line. This position will be based in Sorocaba, Brazil, and will play a critical role in the definition, standardization, and continuous improvement of hydraulic solutions for heavy-duty equipment such as Rotary Car Dumpers, Apron Feeders, Belt Feeders, Gates, Chutes, and other large material handling systems.

This position will lead technical execution, provide mentoring to a global network of engineers, and actively engage in cross-functional collaboration with product line, supply chain, manufacturing, and field service teams across regions including the United States, Brazil, India, Canada, Australia and South Africa.

What You’ll Do

Technical Leadership

  • Act as the technical focal point for all hydraulic systems within the BMH product line.

  • Review and approve high-risk or complex hydraulic circuit designs and integration.

  • Define and maintain global design standards, best practices, and validation procedures for hydraulic systems.

  • Drive engineering excellence through deep domain expertise, structured problem-solving, and innovation.

Project Delivery & Execution Oversight

  • Oversee hydraulic design activities across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring quality and alignment with requirements.

  • Guide the creation of hydraulic schematics (P&ID), component specifications, and system documentation.

  • Support project and engineering managers with effort estimation, planning, and resource allocation.

Innovation and Product Development

  • Lead initiatives in energy efficiency, digitalization, reliability engineering, and electro-hydraulic integration.

  • Evaluate and propose new technologies and solutions to improve performance and reduce total cost of ownership.

  • Own and maintain a roadmap for hydraulic system standardization and technical differentiation.

Supplier & Quality Engagement

  • Collaborate with supply chain to select and qualify hydraulic component suppliers, with a focus on global consistency and local responsiveness.

  • Define technical criteria and participate in supplier audits, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), and component failure investigations.

Field and Customer Support

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex hydraulic issues during equipment commissioning or operation.

  • Work with Field Service to troubleshoot chronic failures, and capture learnings from field operations.

  • Work with Proposal teams to define retrofit / upgrade solutions.

Mentoring & Knowledge Sharing

  • Mentor junior and senior engineers on hydraulic fundamentals, tools, and project execution.

  • Foster a strong global network of hydraulic capability within the company.

  • Conduct training sessions and create knowledge documentation for internal engineering development.


Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (mandatory).

  • Postgraduate degree or certification in Hydraulic Systems, Fluid Power, or Reliability Engineering is preferred.

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in hydraulic design for large industrial equipment, with a strong focus on heavy-duty systems and complex circuit integration.

  • Proven record of leading hydraulic designs from concept through commissioning in the mining, steel, or industrial sector.

  • Experience with international projects, customer specifications, and regulatory compliance.

  • Expert knowledge of hydraulic circuit design, fluid power theory, and component selection.

  • Proficiency in hydraulic software tools (e.g., Automation Studio, FluidDraw, SimHydraulics).

  • Competence with 3D CAD (e.g., Inventor) for system integration.

  • Strong analytical skills for system troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and optimization.

  • Familiarity with relevant standards: ISO 4413, ASME B30.1, DIN, NR-12, etc.

  • English: Advanced (mandatory for global collaboration), Spanish is a plus.

  • Ability to balance detailed technical work with high-level system integration.

  • Effective leadership in a global organization, with cultural awareness and collaboration mindset.

  • Strong communication skills, able to present complex ideas to diverse audiences including engineering leadership and customers.
