Introduction
We are looking for an Assistant Manager, Quality to join our Minerals Crushing Quality Engineering team. You will be responsible for leading the Quality Engineering team in managing national and international Crushing and Conveyor Systems projects, ensuring that technical and contractual product requirements are met throughout all phases — from development to manufacturing, whether in-house or through external suppliers. Your role is critical to ensure compliance and excellence in our mining systems, directly contributing to the success of our business.
In this position, you will report to the Quality Manager of the Mining Crusher Business Line.
This position is primarily based in Sorocaba and involves up to 40% national and international travel.
Team you belong to
You will be part of the Mining Crusher Quality team, dedicated to ensuring compliance and excellence in the products delivered to our customers. We work in close collaboration with the Engineering, Procurement, Planning, and Project Management teams, and maintain ongoing interaction with suppliers and customers globally.

What you’ll do
- Project Quality Management: Ensure that quality requirements are considered and incorporated from the proposal phase, acting as a liaison between engineering, procurement, suppliers, and customers to ensure that deliveries meet both technical and contractual specifications.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop the Quality Engineering team, promoting continuous learning, team engagement, and alignment with the Metso’s strategic goals.
- Project Documentation Oversight: Oversee the development and continuous update of quality-related documents—including plans, procedures, ITPs, and data books—ensuring standardization and full compliance with internal policies, contracts and applicable external standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the Quality representative in strategic discussions with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams, facilitating alignment on requirements, schedules, and technical resolutions.
- Performance and KPI Management: Monitor and analyze key quality performance indicators, including NCRs, cost of poor quality, rework, supplier performance, and chargebacks. Lead structured root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to drive continuous improvement across global projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data-driven decision-making and alignment with business goals.
- Supplier Assessment and Development: Coordinate audits and technical assessments of global suppliers, ensuring production capability, compliance with quality requirements, and adherence to Crushing standards.
- Technical Decision-Making: Provide technical support to Quality Engineers in the validation of critical procedures related to both project execution and supplier operations, including welding, non-destructive testing (NDTs), painting, and dimensional control. Ensure all procedures are aligned with applicable international standards and contractual requirements, contributing to risk mitigation and product reliability across global projects.
- Business Strategy Integration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure Quality initiatives are aligned with the company’s strategic goals. Contribute to decision-making processes that influence project cost, schedule, and quality outcomes, supporting long-term business performance and customer satisfaction through proactive quality planning and execution.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Technology Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering, preferably in heavy manufacturing environments and complex projects. Prior experience in technical leadership or team coordination is considered a plus.
- Solid knowledge of welding processes, NDT inspections (especially UT, MPI, PT, and RT), and industrial painting.
- Familiarity with international standards such as AWS, CWB, ASME, and EN.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, ITPs, and specifications.
- Experience in audits and inspections of global suppliers.
- Experience with internal audits based on ISO 9001:2015.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, corporate email, SAP, or similar manufacturing business systems.
- Advanced English (written, spoken, and reading) and intermediate Spanish.
- Strong technical communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in multicultural and multilingual environments.
- Organized, self-managed, and results oriented.
- Valid passport and driver’s license.
