Introduction

 

We are seeking a Supply Quality Engineer  to join our MIN Procurement China  team. You will be responsible for working on supplier quality assurance on project basis at supplier for Metso interests and customer satisfaction. Monitor supplier quality performance and contribute on supplier continuous improvement for sustainable and reliable supply chain to Metso. Your role plays a crucial part in SQE team. In this position, you will report to Quality Manager .

What you’ll do

 

  • Analyze supplier capacity and capabilities to meet quality requirements specified in specifications, drawings, contract files, and so on.
  • Conduct project kick-off meeting with supplier. Clarify specifications and documents ensuring compliance to specifications and drawings.
  • Consult with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement for technical questions.
  • Supervise supplier manufacturing process. Identify quality non-conformance. Communicate and clarify acceptable rework instruction to suppliers. Follow up implement of corrective actions required and defined.
  • Participate in physical inspection activities in manufacturing processes in suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements. Communicate process inspection techniques to suppliers.
  • Assist supplies with personnel & procedure qualifications, manufacturing procedures, quality package preparation, and so on.
  • Conduct the review and sign-off of supplier personnel & procedure qualifications, reports, documents and final quality packages.
  • Maintain the use of quality modules in Jagger Direct in responsible suppliers to deal with Exceptional Approval, Request for Inspection, Goods Movement, Customer Complaint.
  • Conduct periodic supplier quality audit/evaluation, supplier sustainability internal audit, supplier quality performance review and evaluation.
  • Manage supplier’s continuous improvement actions. Recommend changes in manufacturing processes and supplier systems to improve product quality and production efficiency.
  • Develop new suppliers and/or new products for the demand from Competence Centers and or Procurement.
  • Provide source inspection reports, project status reports whenever needed and required.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties and/or other special projects as required.
  • Frequent Travel will be required.

 

Who you are

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Strong knowledge in fabrication & welding is a must. Basic FRP product knowledge and inspection skills will be plus.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in fabrication & welding, preferably stainless steel working experience in heavy equipment manufacturing.
  • Basic knowledge in machining, heat treatment, NDE, material testing etc.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), International Welding Engineer (IWE), Protective Coating Inspector (PCI), NDT (UT/MT/PT) qualifications are preferred and will be valuable to the position.

Working knowledge in quality inspection and/or supplier quality management will be a plus.
