Introduction
We are seeking a Senior Logistics Specialist to join our Special Logistics team. You will be the key driver behind managing complex order shipment and supplier direct shipments. You will act as the bridge between internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring that our intricate logistics operations run smoothly from initial customer request to final destination delivery. Your role plays a crucial part in Special Purchasing and Logistics team, which will positively impact customer satisfaction and on time delivery. In this position, you will report to Vivian Zhang.
This position is mainly located in Shanghai, China.

You will join a team of Global Logistics Operation dedicated to Complex Order shipments that strive to Customer satisfaction of On-time, On-cost and On-quality delivery. You must have an independent and flexible working style as a part of our team. As a Senior Logistics Specialist, you will need to manage issues in a fast-paced environment and to need the ability to work efficiently under pressure. Most importantly you must be a team player with willingness to learn and collaborate with colleagues in the Special Logistics as well as those outside of the department.
We work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, such as Delivery Management, Procurement terms and other Metso Logistics team. What you’ll do
- Complex Shipment Management: Oversee the end-to-end logistics process for complex order shipments and supplier direct shipments, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Solution & Cost Optimization: Analyze customer requirements to identify and implement the best possible logistics solutions, negotiating competitive rates and selecting the optimal shipping routes.
- Operational Execution: Manage the entire booking process via our system, coordinate with freight forwarders, and monitor cargo movement to proactively address any transit issues.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Internal: Work closely with the Delivery Management, Procurement teams and destination inbound logistics to align on priorities and ensure seamless handovers.
- External: For logistics topics, serve as the primary point of contact for external suppliers and freight forwarding partners, managing performance and resolving operational challenges.
- Freight Forwarder Management: Monitor and evaluate freight forwarder performance to ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and company standards.
Who you are
- You have proven experience in logistics, preferably within manufacturing, heavy equipment or a similar industry.
- You thrive in managing complexity and enjoy problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
- You are a strong communicator capable of managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Strong understanding of international trade terms (Incoterms), Multimodal transportation.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain coordination.
- Proven track record of handling complex or project-based shipments within a manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical equipment environment is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with SAP and Transportation Management (TM) system is a strong advantage.
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling) for logistics analysis and reporting.
- Experience using Power BI(PBI) for creating dashboards and visualizing logistics performance data is required.
- Language: Strong English skills in reading and Writing. Smooth oral English.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce
