We are seeking a Senior Specialist IT to join our IT team. You will be responsible for to manage all network related activities and services delivered to Chile not limited to additional responsibilities such as datacenter and cloud infrastructure, end user computing. In this position, you will report to the Country IT Manager, Chile.

 

This position is based in Santiago, Chile.

 

Areas of responsibility

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversee network services to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Key responsibilities include implementing new network solutions, monitoring network devices, maintaining network security, collecting and analyzing performance data, troubleshooting issues, anticipating potential problems, and conducting routine maintenance.

 

Additional Support:

Provide assistance to the IT Manager across all assigned areas of responsibility, extending beyond the scope outlined above as needed.

Education

  • Network and System Administration Degree

Languages

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is required. Proficiency in Portuguese is considered an asset.

Tasks and Details

Network:

  • Deploy and maintain IT network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, WLAN) according to the company needs and coordinate the development and maintenance based on the global standard process.
  • Deploy and maintain Voice services (Mobile, landlines, VoIP, PBX).
  • Troubleshoot local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and WLAN services including at the user, to ensure minimal connectivity problems and outage.
  • Evaluate data utilization to ensure networks are performing below at peak capacity and suggest solutions to improve performance and mitigate disaster.
  • Enhancing network security, as well as documenting network processes and cabling layouts.
  • Support firewall environments (Palo Alto, Prisma) in line with Global IT security policy.
  • Liaise with Global management teams, Network tower and service desk on a regular basis
  • Manage 3rd parties involved in Network & Voice services Management.
  • Create or update technical documentation for network installations or changes to existing
  • Evaluate current network infrastructure and create proposals to enhance and get it always updated, it includes Metso offices and sites inside customer mines.
  • Involved in new IT demands: Business Requests, Pre-projects, Ongoing Projects, Activities, Project Meetings, General Definitions.

 

IT Operations:

  • Fully supporting IT in crisis, providing quick diagnostic, troubleshoot and communication to end-users.
  • IT Communications contact to translate IT Material/Trainings to Spanish.

 

Support Services:

  • Daily and deeply involved in TCS service management.
  • Ensure that support services are being delivered according to Business expectations.
  • Taking decisions for issues where TCS needs guidance or have cost involved or is out scope, etc.
  • Supporting and guiding TCS thru subjects they don’t know how to support. Acting as last mile from support teams.
  • Actively involved in TCS service management, participating in weekly meetings, reviewing the operation, numbers, age of tickets, points to improve, reporting deviations, behavior, etc.
  • Escalating relevant subjects, pushing for follow-ups and proper answers.
  • Work on support process improvements.
  • Supporting critical cases/tickets focused in troubleshoot the issue to Metso Business.

 

Basic requirements of the position

  • Degree in Information Technology or related discipline.
  • a minimum of 10 years of experience in the position is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of network connectivity, technologies, protocols, and security.
  • Network software experience, e.g. Aruba/HP, SolarWinds, Cisco Systems
  • Network devices experience, e.g. Firewalls (Palo Alto, Prisma, etc), VPN, WAN and SD-WAN routers, Switches (Aruba, HP, etc), Access Points (Aruba)
  • Computer OS basic knowledge, e.g. Windows 10 (Performance monitor, event viewer, general troubleshotting)
  • Server OS basic knowledge, e.g. Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019, Server Virtualization (e.g. VM Ware)
  • Know how to conduct diagnosis & troubleshooting for network, servers, computing, etc
  • Knowledge of Process, Roles and Responsabilities of ITIL Change Management and Global SMO (Service Management Office)
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility including shift and out of hours working
  • Able to fully support IT in crisis, providing quick diagnostic, troubleshoot and communication to end-users.
  • Good Interpersonal, communication skills and team player.
  • Willing to learn, adapt to the company culture, changes and having the right attitude.
  • Fundamentals in project management
  • Fluent English and Spanish are mandatory, Portuguese is a plus
  • Availability to frequent travels mainly inside Chile (national travels) to visit MO sites and sites inside customer mines to audit IT infrastructure and services.
