Introduction
 
We are looking for a Sr. Engineer, Technical Support to join our Field Service team in the Market Area organization. In this role, you will provide high-level technical expertise as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) reference, supporting business growth, project development, and the delivery of technically sound solutions for equipment, spare parts, optimizations, and technology-related services.
You will report to Manager, Field Service, and the role location is San Juan, Argentina, with an onsite working model. Regular national and international travel to customer mining sites is required.

You will join the Field Service team, which supports customers through technical expertise, equipment performance improvement, maintenance guidance, and the development of reliable solutions across assigned technologies and business lines. The team plays an important role in supporting technical sales activities, project execution, and customer success by ensuring that Metso solutions meet technical, quality, and operational requirements.
The team collaborates closely with commercial teams, business line specialists, technical teams, customers, and other Metso personnel. Team members are based in San Juan and work closely with mining operations and customer sites when technical support is required.
 
What you'll do
 
  • Support technical sales activities, tenders, and business development initiatives by providing expert technical guidance and ensuring the quality and feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation and specifications for major contracts, aligning customer requirements with Metso standards and capabilities.
  • Conduct technical audits, equipment performance evaluations, diagnostics, repair assessments, and reviews of maintenance and work procedures.
  • Provide technical expertise for equipment commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization to help customers maximize equipment value and reliability.
  • Develop, update, and verify technical maintenance, installation, repair, and troubleshooting procedures while ensuring compliance with Metso standards, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Deliver technical training and knowledge transfer to Metso personnel and customer teams on equipment operation, maintenance, and assembly practices.
  • Act as a technical reference within the assigned technology area, providing guidance to less experienced engineers and leading technical portions of projects in accordance with established practices.
  • Follow all quality, safety, occupational health, and environmental requirements and maintain the certifications and documentation needed to access customer sites.
 
What you'll bring
 
  • Strong experience in technical and administrative roles related to equipment support, maintenance, engineering services, or similar industrial environments.
  • University degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, Chemical, Metallurgical Engineering, or another relevant field aligned with the assigned technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of equipment maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and failure analysis, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Expertise in mining project execution and in hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, including the ability to interpret hydraulic and electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices, statistical analysis, instrumentation, metrology, and management systems used to support technical excellence and operational performance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead maintenance and technical support activities while ensuring safety, quality, and technical compliance.
  • Capability to train others, assess technical competency gaps, and transfer knowledge effectively to both customer and internal teams.
  • Customer-focused approach with the flexibility to travel and provide technical support at mining operations.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills, combined with a strong commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and Metso values.
 
Nice to have
 
  • Specialized training or further studies in technical disciplines, administration, or management.
  • Technical expertise in assigned technologies such as crushing and screening, flotation and filtration, or horizontal and vertical grinding mills, including experience in process control or mineral processing where relevant.
  • Previous experience with equipment related to the assigned business line or technology area.
