The role

 

We are seeking a dynamic, proactive and commercially minded Project Sourcing Specialist to support the development and expansion of our supplier network across South-East Asia, with a strong focus on fabrication, machining, castings, and other heavy industrial manufacturing categories in Vietnam. The Project Procurement Specialist supports business growth by developing a competitive, high-quality supplier base.

 

The ideal candidate is highly driven, resourceful, and capable of identifying and developing new supplier opportunities in dynamic and developing markets. This role will play a key part in supporting business growth through supplier identification, qualification, cost competitiveness, risk reduction, and long-term sourcing strategy execution.

 

The Sourcing Specialist will work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, Quality, and Global Sourcing teams to establish and manage a competitive, high-quality supplier base.

 

  

Duties will include but are not limited to:-

 

  • Lead strategic sourcing and development of new suppliers across South-East Asia for fabrication, machining, castings, and related manufacturing requirements supporting the global Minerals business.
  • Conduct supplier market research, capability assessments, and commercial evaluations to identify competitive sourcing opportunities in conjunction with the quality teams.
  • Manage RFQs, supplier evaluations, commercial comparisons, negotiations, and recommendation packages.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
  • Support supplier onboarding, qualification, audits, and approval activities in collaboration with Quality, Engineering, Project Delivery, and Business Lines.
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing capability, technical competency, capacity, quality, and operational performance.
  • Build strong supplier relationships and drive continuous improvement, supplier performance, and long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Work closely with Engineering teams to review technical drawings and specifications with suppliers.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving, value improvement, and supplier diversification opportunities to mitigate supply chain risk.
  • Monitor and report on Procurement KPIs including on-time delivery, savings, supplier performance, and payment terms.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records, sourcing documentation, and reporting within SAP and associated systems.
  • Collaborate across Procurement, Logistics, Engineering, Sales, Project Delivery, and Global Sourcing teams to support broader procurement and supply chain initiatives.

 

Essential

  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across suppliers, engineering and project teams.
  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier development, or procurement within heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication, machining, castings, and industrial manufacturing processes, including the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation, supplier management, cost optimisation, and risk assessment capability.
  • Experience sourcing and developing suppliers within South-East Asian manufacturing markets.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and prepare clear commercial evaluations and recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional project and procurement teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Ability to travel within the region for supplier visits, audits, and relationship development.

 

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related discipline
  • SAP experience (MM Module preferred)
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of international logistics, imports/exports, and Incoterms
  • Experience supporting supplier audits and qualification processes
  • Global Procurement Experience: Experience working in a global procurement environment, understanding international supply chains and market conditions.
