Introduction and Team you will belong to

Reporting to our VP - Service Operations – APA you will drive, lead and take ownership of market area training initiatives by systematically reviewing/conducting training needs assessments to ensure maximum performance and alignment with overall strategy.

 

This position is a key component of the Service Operations team, Asia Pacific Region, based on the West Coast.

 

As a manager within the recently consolidated Repairs and Field Services divisions, the successful candidate will be expected to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and reactive environment. Regular local and international travel will be a requirement of the role.

 

The Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead and champion internal and external training initiatives across the Asia Pacific Market Area, driving capability and performance.
  • Conduct insightful training needs assessments to uncover skill gaps and shape impactful learning strategies.
  • Partner with managers to design clear, personalized training paths that empower team growth.
  • Curate and develop training materials tailored to the unique needs of the Asia Pacific region.
  • Deliver engaging training experiences for internal teams, business partners, and customers.
  • Foster seamless collaboration between the Market Area and the Metso Global Academy to ensure alignment and innovation.
  • Track and measure training impact using key metrics, and take proactive steps to optimize outcomes.
  • Maintain strong governance and reporting standards for consistency and transparency in development activities.
  • Drive monthly management sessions to review progress, share best practices, and keep stakeholders engaged.
  • Spark creativity by facilitating brainstorming and content development for Academy initiatives.
  • Build strong customer relationships by promoting external training programs and demonstrating value.
  • Support the commercialization of training packages, creating compelling, value-based learning experiences for customers.
  • Work closely with regional teams to design and commercialize training solutions that make a real difference.

 

The successful candidate will possess the following:

 

Essential

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Psychology, Business, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in Learning & Development, Training, or Talent Management.
  • 5–10 years of experience in training or L&D roles, including at least 3 years in a regional capacity across Asia Pacific.
  • A proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate impactful training programs across diverse cultures and business units.
  • Hands-on experience with LMS platforms, e-learning tools, and blended learning strategies.
  • Strong track record of partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver results.
  • Exposure to leadership development, coaching, and organizational change initiatives.
  • Cultural agility – able to navigate and respect differences across the Asia Pacific Market Area.
  • A strategic mindset to align training initiatives with business goals and regional priorities.
  • Exceptional communication skills – clear, engaging, and confident in facilitation and presentation.
  • Data-driven decision-making – comfortable using metrics to measure training impact and optimize outcomes.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed, and evolving environment, adapting quickly to change.
  • Builds trust and influence without authority – a natural collaborator who connects easily.
  • Ability to work across cultures and multiple stakeholders in a complex matrix environment.
  • Commercial acumen – passionate about selling training solutions, packaging value-based learning experiences, and driving revenue through innovative training offerings.
