Introduction to the role
We are seeking a Field Service Technician to join our Service Operations Support team. This role combines hands-on mechanical work with technical problem-solving and customer support between the client, product division and our sales team. Your role plays a crucial part in performing and coordinating service activities relating to our machines, spares and wears - keeping our clientsoperating at full capacity.

This position is located in Mackay, and you will report to the Field Service Manager - East.
Main responsibilities

Complete field machine inspections

Provide hands-on mechanical service work in the field to Metso customers

Provide technical liaison services between customers, product divisions and sales personnel

Perform technical evaluations and analyse equipment and machine component failures

Understand drawings and schematics to ensure correct processes are followed

Supervise and oversee Field Service projects on customer sites

Escalate questions and analysis to Technical Support and Engineering

Support quotation work by providing scope of work, initial planning and costing information

Promote products and services to customers

Prepare post site reports, timesheets and expenses after site visits

Promote Technical Support value add and support Technical Support Teams

Some Interstate and some international travel may apply. This role comes with some physical work requirements.
To succeed
Essential
-
A Mechanical trade qualification from college or technical school, OR• Three to six years relevant experience and/or training• Demonstrate understanding and compliance to safety regulation and standards

Physically fit and able to pass a medical, with no site restrictions to perform duties
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics

Ability to travel within short notice
-
Understanding operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
-
Ability to read and understand a variety of written instructions
-
Ability to complete basic engineering calculations such as basic algebra, geometry etc.

Provide standard hand tools applicable to task

Current driver’s license

Basic rigging and dogging understanding

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence (Word, Excel)
