Introduction

 

 

 

We are looking for an Operational Procurement Specialist to join our Order and Logistics Operations organization for North and Central America (NCA). In this role, you will execute operational purchasing activities, including requisition and purchase order processing, backlog management, inbound process monitoring, and supplier follow-up activities. You will play a key role in ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services while supporting inventory health, procurement performance, and operational excellence. You will report to the Senior Manager, Operational Procurement.

 

 

 

This role is based in Montreal, QC, with Hybrid working options available.

 

 

 


Team you will belong to

 

 

 

You will join the Operational Purchasing team within the Order and Logistics Operations organization. Our team is responsible for ensuring efficient procurement execution, material availability, supplier performance management, and operational purchasing support across North and Central America. We collaborate closely with supply chain, logistics, inventory management, sales, vendors, and other internal stakeholders to ensure the seamless flow of materials and services required to support business operations. Our ways of working emphasize collaboration, accountability, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and customer-focused execution.

 

 

 


What you'll do

 

 

 

 

  • Create purchase orders based on approved purchase requisitions.
  • Manage purchase order confirmations and maintain accurate purchasing records.
  • Monitor and expedite purchase orders based on sales and operational criticality.
  • Manage inbound material flow and related SAP transactions.
  • Maintain purchasing master data and support data accuracy initiatives.
  • Track and manage vendor performance, including on-time delivery metrics.
  • Execute actions to support inventory health and ensure high product availability.
  • Monitor and act on key procurement KPIs, including on-time delivery, backlog aging, and purchase order cycle time.
  • Conduct all procurement activities in accordance with Metso's Global Procurement policies, procedures, ethical standards, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Support additional operational purchasing activities and projects as assigned.

 

 

 

 


What you'll bring

 

 

 

 

 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a procurement, purchasing, or supply chain role.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience processing procurement transactions and purchase orders.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain, procurement, and logistics processes.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; two-year degree required.
  • Fluency in English.

 

 

 

 


Nice to Have:

 

 

 

 

  • Experience using Power BI.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships or working with third-party providers.
  • Familiarity with industrial environments, heavy industry, or complex engineered products.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawings and industrial terminology.
  • Experience with products within Metso's portfolio and/or the mining industry.
  • French language proficiency.

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is $82,100 - $100,400 CAD per annum. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on skills, experience, and role‑related qualifications.
