Introduction
We are seeking a Proposal Engineer – Canada Repairs (Regional) to join our Canada Services Repairs team. You will be responsible for developing clear, accurate, and competitive proposals and inspection packages that support all Repair operations across Canada, which involves building technical scopes of work, preparing quotations, and ensuring a smooth handover to execution teams. Your role plays a crucial part in meeting customer requirements, improving quotation quality and response time, and supporting profitable growth across the Repairs business, which will positively impact customer satisfaction and operational performance. In this position, you will report to the Services Operations Manager (Canada Services Sales).
This position is mainly located in Canada, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of repairs, proposal, and services professionals who are passionate about delivering high‑quality inspection and repair solutions to customers across Canada. The team strives to translate customer requirements into technically sound, commercially competitive, and executable scopes of work.
We are currently developing standardized proposal templates, estimating models, and scopes of work, while working on process optimization initiatives to improve quotation response time and hit rate.
We work closely with internal stakeholders such as Sales, Planning & Estimation, Repairs Coordinators, Quality Managers, Technical Sales Support, Logistics, and the global Repairs Product Group, as well as third‑party suppliers when required. Our team culture is all about collaboration, accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. Team members are located across Canada and global Metso service locations.
What you’ll do
- Review customer requests and prepare proposals and quotations for inspection and repair services across Canadian Repair operations.
- Develop detailed inspection and repair scopes of work in collaboration with the Repairs Coordinator and Quality Manager.
- Ensure proposals are technically sound, competitive, and aligned with Repairs Product Group guidance, Metso commercial guidelines, and governance requirements.
- Prepare accurate estimates reflecting materials, labour, third‑party services, and technical requirements.
- Create RFQs and obtain quotations from third‑party suppliers when required.
- Ensure all proposal data is accurately managed in SAP, Salesforce, and related digital tools, following approval workflows.
- Provide complete and structured as‑sold handover packages to Repairs Execution teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving quotation quality, response time, and hit rate.
Who you are
- Engineering or business degree, or equivalent industry experience.
- 2–5 years of experience in repairs, industrial services, proposals/estimating, or similar technical‑commercial environments.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Solid commercial acumen with a good understanding of costing and pricing principles.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a customer‑focused mindset.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Experience with SAP, Salesforce, and proposal‑related digital tools.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with rotating equipment, mechanical components, or mining/process equipment; bilingualism (English/French).

For positions that may be performed in Ontario, the expected salary range is $95,000.00 –$105,000.00 CAD per year. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on skills, experience, and role-related qualifications. Compensation for roles performed outside Ontario will be determined in accordance with applicable local laws and market conditions.
