Introduction

We are looking for a Welder to join our Repairs Welding team in Mesa, Arizona. In this role, you will support the repair and manufacturing of mining and process equipment, including mills, crushers, screens, shredders, conveyors, and pumps. You will perform a variety of welding and fabrication activities to help ensure equipment is repaired and manufactured safely and to required specifications. You will report to the Repair Production Manager.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Mesa, Arizona. The position is non-exempt and may require overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Travel: Ability to travel as needed.

Team you will belong to

You will join our Repairs Welding team, supporting the repair and manufacturing of heavy mining and process equipment. The team works with equipment including mills, crushers, screens, shredders, conveyors, and pumps and uses a variety of welding, cutting, and fabrication methods in a heavy industrial environment.

Our team plays an important role in delivering safe, high-quality repair and manufacturing work while maintaining strong attention to specifications, inspection requirements, equipment care, housekeeping, and plant safety.

What you’ll do

• Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications and perform welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
• Set up and operate common welding equipment and processes, including stick welding, MIG welding, submerged arc welding, semi-automated welding, and oxyfuel gas equipment.
• Cut and excavate cracks using air carbon arc equipment and perform cutting with oxyfuel, plasma, track burners, powered saws, shears, brakes, and rolls.
• Set up, center, and secure workpieces on rotary tilt positioners and adjust welding equipment, currents, and time cycles for varying material conditions to achieve proper welds.
• Heat, form, finish, grind, and dress metal parts using appropriate hand tools, torches, grinders, files, scrapers, and welding equipment.
• Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to handle workpieces weighing up to 65 tons.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, complete required inspection documentation, follow assigned priorities, and maintain good housekeeping practices.
• Follow all safety and plant rules while working reliably and effectively with minimal supervision and strong attention to detail.

What you’ll bring

• 3+ years of welding experience and the ability to successfully pass a welding test to required specifications.
• Ability to read and understand shop drawings, welding details, requisitions, and engineering specifications and fabricate assemblies within required tolerances.
• Working knowledge of welding and fabrication machinery and tools, including their operation, repair, and maintenance.
• Intermediate math skills, including fractions, decimals, geometry, and basic calculations used for measurement, testing, and problem-solving.
• A strong commitment to safety, reliability, dependability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to travel as needed and work required overtime, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• 2G, 3G, and/or 4G welding certification is preferred (nice to have).
• 5+ years of experience in a related repair and fabrication environment is preferred (nice to have).

Physical work requirements

This role includes certain physical work requirements related to working in a heavy industrial environment. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds; work for extended periods, including outdoors and in varying weather conditions; navigate different terrain; climb ladders and stairs; and access confined spaces as required. The work also requires manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating tools and equipment, as well as the visual and auditory capabilities needed to recognize workplace issues, instructions, alarms, and alerts.
