Introduction:

We are seeking a Shop Lead to join our Repair Center team. You will be responsible for growing a team of employees in the shop. These tasks include daily work assignments, daily work performance & daily work schedules, working closely with the shop Supervisor/ Manager. The Shop Lead will also work and oversee the tear down, inspection, evaluation and final assembly of related equipment such as gear boxes, motors, pinions, pumps, vibration screens, etc. The Shop Lead will ensure final assembly, in addition to completing all associated records and correct maintenance action forms. The Shop Lead must ensure that all operating procedures are carried out in such a way as to be compliant with Metso Specifications, all Health, Safety, and Environmental (legal) requirements and customer satisfaction.
 
In this position, you will report to the Manager, Service Center Mesa.  

This position is mainly located in Mesa, AZ, and may involve up to 5% of travel, if any.  
 
What you’ll do:

 
•    Work in collaboration with Shop Supervisor/ Manager to ensure projects are tracked for completion. Identify any obstacles / challenges to meet the schedule. 

•    Commence each day by delivering clear and concise instructions for tasks to be accomplished.
•    Identify safety risks and proper PPE required. Work in collaboration with HSE to eliminate safety risks related to the tasks to be performed and workflow of material.
•    Make sure the team members are adhering to work hours including scheduled breaks and lunches.
•    Work in collaboration with Shop Supervisor / Manager to schedule overtime as needed.
•    Keep Repair Center Supervisor/ Manager apprised of assembly status and escalates issues to Repair Center Supervisor/ Manager as may be appropriate.
•    Provide regular timely updates to the Repair Center Supervisor/ Manager of status of shop orders and escalates any issues as may be appropriate.
•    Determine and establish methods and working processes for the most specialized and complex jobs.
•    Control the quality of all work done and effectively communicate with QA/QC Personnel.
•    Formulate all working procedures used for optimizing the quality of work and efficiency. Collaborate with co-workers, contractors, and consultants to resolve maintenance issues and develop ways to improve equipment utilization and efficiencies.
•    Perform minor and major repair of projects received at the Repair Center to include all facets of large and small mining machinery.
•    Maintain assembly equipment to ensure best reliability and performance.
•    Maintain assembly equipment records including illustrations, engineering drawings, equipment manuals and best practice procedures.
•    Participate in Company strategies, targets, and other initiatives that relate to Health and Safety, Operation, or Employee well-being, as defined by management.
•    Willing to up-grade qualifications with courses and training.
•    Should be reliable and display attention to detail.
•    Completes required work and safety reports.
•    Maintain good housekeeping practices.
•    Observe and enforce all safety and general plant rules.
•    Perform other tasks as directed.
 
Who you are: 
 
•    High school diploma or equivalent
•    Prior repair experience with mining process equipment
•    Ability to assess situations and problems, ability to detect technical discrepancies.
•    Reads and understands English language (alpha and numeric) sufficient to read and understand requisitions, drawings, and engineering specifications.
•    Observes safety regulations and exhibits a high concern for safety.
•    Ability to read and understand shop drawings and welding details, set up and adjust welding equipment to fabricate assemblies within tolerances required.
•    Must have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, use, repair, and maintenance; knowledge of design techniques and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
•    Basic knowledge of destructive and non-destructive tests.
•    Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, pi tapes, scales, etc. proficiently.
•    Ability to use hydraulic pullers and presses for disassembly and assembly work.
•    Understand mechanics of precision bearings, bushings, gearing as well as heating and cooling of components for disassembly and assembly of work.

•    Able to wear safety apparatus/clothing when required.
•    Perceives the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels. Receives detailed information through oral communication.
•    Position requires work both inside and outside the building in various weather conditions.
•    This position requires repetitive or periodic movement based upon demand for an order.
