Introduction

 

We are seeking Senior Outbound Logistics Manager to join our Logistics team. You will lead outbound logistics operations within the U.S. scope of the NCA region, ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused delivery from logistics centers to end customers, between Metso plants, and to other Metso entities globally. This role will manage relationships with Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) and act as the main point of contact for the 4PL (Forth-Party Logistics) provider handling local outbound operations. While the current scope focuses on U.S. operations, the position is designed with flexibility to expand and support outbound flows from other regional sources to customers as needed. The role is critical in driving operational excellence, export compliance, and strategic logistics initiatives aligned with Metso’s global standards. In this position, you will report to Gerardo Santiago Garcia Roig, Director, Logistics Operations NCA.

 

This position can be located in any of our offices within the United States, Canada, or Mexico.

What you'll do:

 

  • Leading and mentoring teams responsible for outbound logistics, ensuring high performance and continuous development.
  • Overseeing shipments from logistics centers to customers, between Metso plants, and to global entities—ensuring full compliance with incoterms and contractual terms.
  • Acting as the main liaison with our 4PL provider, managing local outbound operations and ensuring seamless execution.
  • Coordinating transportation with approved Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), maintaining alignment with Metso’s operating model and service agreements.
  • Ensuring all logistics documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant for outbound and export activities.
  • Partnering with LSPs and customs brokers to streamline warehousing, brokerage, and export operations.
  • Monitoring logistics center activities to ensure timely and accurate transportation bookings.
  • Proactively tracking shipments, resolving deviations, and implementing corrective actions to maintain delivery performance.
  • Communicating changes promptly and updating systems to ensure transparency and continuity.
  • Supporting internal stakeholders (e.g., Customer Service Representatives) with logistics insights to enable smooth order fulfillment.
  • Setting clear goals for your team, conducting development interviews, and ensuring the right skills and resources are in place.
  • Analyzing logistics performance metrics and providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally to resolve complex logistics challenges and drive systemic enhancements.
  • Overseeing LSP and 4PL performance, fostering strategic partnerships to elevate service quality and innovation.
  • Supporting the rollout of global logistics initiatives and standards, aligning with Metso’s broader supply chain strategy.
  • Leveraging TMS, SAP, and other logistics platforms to enhance visibility, control, and operational efficiency.
  • Remaining flexible to potential scope expansion, including outbound flows from other regional sources.


 

 

Who you are:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain operations, with a strong focus on outbound and export logistics.
  • Proven experience managing 3PL/4PL relationships and international logistics flows.
  • Solid understanding of incoterms, customs regulations, and export documentation requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing logistics teams.
  • Experience working in a global organization with cross-functional collaboration across regions and business units.
  • Hands-on experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), SAP, and other logistics-related platforms
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to balance quality, delivery, and cost considerations.
  • Demonstrated leadership in strategy development, talent management, and performance improvement.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to manipulate data for reporting and guide efficient logistics practices.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a diverse, cross-functional, and multicultural team environment.
  • Embraces change and drive continuous improvement with a strong sense of urgency and personal ownership.
  • Proficient in logistics systems and business tools, including SAP ERP, TMS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support regional and global logistics operations.
