Introduction:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Plant Health, Safety, & Environment (HSE) Manager to join our Metso team. In this position you will be responsible for leading the occupational Health, safety and environmental compliance in our Plant/Repair center. This position play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secured work environment for all employees and visitors. This position will report to the Director & Head of QEHS, North & Central America and in dotted-line to the Director, Repair Operation -USA.
This position will be located in Mesa, AZ.
What you'll do:
- Implement HSE policies and procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with State and National regulations.
- Investigate workplace accidents, complete and verify reports, analyzing root causes, and liaise with technical specialists and external health and safety authorities to identify the causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence.
- Conduct regular HSE audits, Assessments, and facility inspections to identify potential workplace hazards and risk.
- Facilitate safety meetings and toolbox talks. Coordinate the education and training of the organization's workforce on HSE to ensure that they understand and comply with the organization's safety policies and standards.
- Integrate 5S program into daily operations to enhance workplace safety and efficiency.
- Collaborate with plant Manager and operations team to ensure the implementation of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.
- Implement HSE initiatives aligned with the Market Area QEHS objectives. Ensure local safety programs and practices support the boarder ambition to achieve zero Harm.
- Maintain HSE management system, promoting sustainability and resources conservation.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (equivalent technical diploma with strong experience considered).
- 5+ years of HSE experience in a plant or manufacturing environment, ideally with heavy machining or steel fabrication exposure.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA regulations and familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, build relationships, and influence safety culture.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and respond to customer and stakeholder needs.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective HSE strategies aligned with industry trends and best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with strong organizational and deadline management skills.
- Highly motivated, self driven professional with the ability to work independently and travel domestically/internationally as needed.
