Introduction
We are seeking a Field Service Workforce Manager to join our Field Services / Market Area Operations team. You will be responsible for leading strategic workforce planning, talent development, and technical readiness initiatives across the Market Area, ensuring individuals are fully prepared to transition from training programs and boot camps into full‑time field service roles. Your role plays a crucial part in building sustainable technical capabilities, strengthening workforce readiness, and supporting long‑term service growth, which will positively impact operational performance, safety, and customer experience. In this position, you will report to the Market Area Field Service or Operations Leader.
This position is mainly located in Mesa, AZ, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. Occasional travel across the Market Area may be required to support stakeholders, training programs, and events.

You will join a team of field service, workforce planning, and talent development professionals who are dedicated to ensuring the right technical skills are available to meet current and future service demand. Our team strives to build structured career pathways, strong technical depth, and a steady pipeline of qualified field service professionals.
We are currently developing workforce planning models, training and certification frameworks, apprenticeship programs, and career progression strategies to support Market Area growth. We work closely with internal stakeholders such as Field Service Operations, Sales, HR, Recruiting, Finance, Metso Academy, and Marketing, as well as external partners including universities, technical institutes, trade schools, and industry organizations. Our team culture emphasizes collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and data‑driven decision‑making. Team members are located across multiple sites within the Market Area.
What you’ll do
- Drive long‑term workforce planning aligned with Market Area business objectives and future field service demand
- Develop and maintain structured career paths, role definitions, and competency frameworks for field service roles
- Partner with HR and Recruiting to ensure robust pipelines aligned to technical skill and equipment‑specific needs
- Monitor technical readiness and field competence of individuals transitioning from training and boot camps into field roles
- Collaborate with Metso Academy to manage technical training, safety qualifications, and equipment certifications
- Track certification status, readiness metrics, and skills gaps to support safe and productive deployment
- Design and implement retention, career progression, and succession strategies within Field Services
- Act as a workforce ambassador by supporting marketing initiatives, job fairs, and academic partnerships
Who you are
- You bring proven experience in workforce planning, talent development, or field service operations
- You have strong business acumen, translating forecasts, backlog, and customer needs into scalable workforce plans
- You possess a solid technical understanding of field service operations, safety, and technician skill progression
- You have experience working with structured training programs, certifications, and career frameworks
- You demonstrate financial and operational awareness, including labor utilization and absorption impacts
- You collaborate effectively across HR, recruiting, training, finance, marketing, and operations
- You are analytical, well‑organized, and confident presenting data‑driven insights to senior stakeholders
- Nice to have: experience working with apprenticeships, academic partnerships, or trade certification programs
