JOB TITLE: LCS FILTER OPERATOR, BASED IN ZITWE, ZAMBIA
We are seeking an LCS Filter Operator to join our LCS team. You will be responsible for operating Metso’s customers' equipment.
This position will coordinate and work closely with the LCS Operation and Maintenance team on site to provide excellent customer service on Metso Equipment.
In this position, you will report to the LCS Manager.
This position is mainly located in Kitwe, Zambia.
TEAM YOU BELONG TO
You will join a team that strives to effectively deliver a seamless experience, that delivers a “technical solution” that meets the customer’s needs, thus supporting the sales team to enhance and build relationships with the downstream effect on sales realisation.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as the LCS Support Centre to assure a common understanding/application of operational and safety support and information to support and provide excellent customer service on Metso’s equipment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You are responsible for the following per your allocated area of responsibility:
- Effectively Operate PF filters to required standard.
- Properly wash filter and clean PLC box on each shift.
- Properly and effectively wash filter before each maintenance.
- Do cake moisture sampling at required intervals and record on log sheet.
- Measure manual density and record.
- Complete shift logbook with accurate value entries including all downtimes.
- Conduct good housekeeping and dispose all unwanted material.
- Report all hazards and near misses on supplied booklet.
- Raise alarm immediately on identified malfunctions or defects on the filter during the shift.
- Responsible for the efficient operation of designated production equipment as assigned
- Operate all assigned equipment safely and efficiently.
- Provide general plant and facility clean.
- Monitor machines during every procedure and or cycle to ensure optimum running
- Troubleshoot problems during machine operation
- Ensure that regular and preventative maintenance procedures are carried out
- Perform random tests to ensure accuracy
- Perform safety checks on every machine
- Handover the equipment to the technical team for Maintenance in a clean state
- Safety consciousness
- Good mechanical orientation/dexterity.
- Good observation and listening skills to constantly monitor the equipment they are using.
- Ability to follow instructions and guidelines
- Able to work as part of a team
- Follow all plant specific Policies E.g. No Smoking areas, lockout, Confined Space, Working at Heights, PPE, Etc.
WHO YOU ARE
- Computer Literate
- Understanding and principles of customer relations and interaction
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years operator experience on mining process equipment (Larox Filter Presses) – Essential
- MOTA (Metso Academy) Certification preferable
- Ability to effectively communicate with a drive and performance orientation
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 – 2008
- Knowledge of country relevant Mine Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of country relevant Occupation Health and Safety Act

- The employee is required to stand, walk, and climb or balance.
- The employee must lift and/or move up to 15 kg.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Use of keyboards, telephones, copiers, telefax, visits and movement, and travel experiences.
- Climbing of stairs, ladders, scaffolds at jobsites and customer facilities.
