Introduction

We are looking for a Package Engineer – Bought-Out Equipment (Sulphuric Acid & Gas Cleaning) to join our project engineering team. In this role, you will manage the complete lifecycle of bought-out equipment packages for Sulphuric Acid and Gas Cleaning Plant projects, from technical specifications and supplier selection through engineering, manufacturing, inspection, delivery, installation support, commissioning, and performance testing. You will ensure that equipment packages meet technical, quality, schedule, and customer requirements.

This role is based in Kolkata, with international travel as required to support suppliers, projects, and site activities.

You will join a multidisciplinary project engineering team working on Sulphuric Acid and Gas Cleaning Plant projects. The team collaborates closely with engineering disciplines, project teams, equipment suppliers, inspection agencies, logistics, customers, and consultants to deliver high-quality equipment packages safely and on schedule.

What you’ll do

• Take end-to-end responsibility for assigned bought-out equipment packages from technical specification through erection, commissioning, and performance testing.
• Define technical requirements and prepare procurement specifications, RFQs, equipment datasheets, and related engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with third-party equipment manufacturers for equipment sizing, selection, technical clarifications, and engineering execution.
• Participate in supplier selection through technical evaluation of offers, clarification meetings, manufacturing schedules, and technical discussions.
• Lead vendor engineering reviews, manufacturing clearances, inspection activities, and technical documentation reviews.
• Coordinate with suppliers, inspection agencies, expeditors, logistics, procurement, project teams, and internal engineering disciplines to ensure timely package delivery.
• Review process design basis, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, customer specifications, and perform sizing calculations where required.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, equipment clashes, mismatches, and execution challenges while ensuring compliance with applicable standards, quality requirements, and material traceability.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in package management and bought-out equipment engineering.
• Strong experience in Gas Cleaning and Sulphuric Acid Plant equipment engineering and vendor package management.
• Knowledge of international codes and standards including EN, ISO, ASTM, ASME, DIN, and IS, along with relevant machinery and pressure equipment requirements.
• Ability to lead package engineering activities and supervise engineering work within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong understanding of equipment procurement, vendor engineering, inspection, manufacturing, logistics, installation, and commissioning processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to undertake international travel when required.
