Position Name:                    Engineering Manager

 

Job Objective:                     To manage overall Basic and Detail engineering activities as per the contractual obligation. Coordinate all different engineering disciplines towards completion of the activities. Taking care of tie-in or interfacing TOP’s among the parties inhouse and external as well. Support proposal engineering activities pertaining to Plant and Mechanical discipline areas. Co-ordination with intra departments, overseas teams, consultants, vendors, and clients during the various stages of project.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Engineering manager has following general responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate project engineering in ferrous technology area In Metals, mainly for Pelletizing and Sintering Plant CAPEX projects

Support and participate in Sales:

  • Support the proposal phase engineering coordination and attend the technical discussion with Client or Consultant.

Responsibilities during project execution:

  • Define the project engineering team recourse plan, the line organization select the nominated resources
  • Form engineering plan and follow up the same as per project schedule.
  • Lead and manage the engineering work, engineering team and resourcing.
  • Manage engineering towards optimization of manhour, cost, etc. without compromising quality requirements.
  • Manage and control engineering performance including reporting
  • Engineering lessons & learned coordinating
  • Manage communication with customer's engineering operations
  • Manage communication with engineering sub-contractors
  • Manage engineering changes
  • Manage engineering documentation workflow
  • Define plant safety concept and requirements (PCM)
  • Arrange needed reviews, HAZOPs and SIL allocation
  • Ensure that engineering is done according to Implementation plan, Product Lines and Outotec guidelines.
  • Usage of all QA/QC aspects related to engineering design and workflow
  • Engineering execution as per contractual obligation in quality, time and budget and according to Business Processes

 

To succeed, you will need:

  • Suitable education, e.g. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 10-15 years of working experience e.g. Project Package Engineer or engineering manager
  • Decent Knowledge of every engineering discipline like, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation etc., which all needed to build a process plant.
  •  Business and technology orientation with good analytical skills
  • Organized and systematic working style as well as proactive attitude
  • Self-motivated and Capability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work and influence in a cross-cultural matrix organization
  • Excellent team player and leadership skills
  • Fluent spoken and written communication skills in English
  • Willingness of frequent travel to meet client or consultant for approval process
  • In Depth knowledge in international standards
  • Understanding customer needs
  • Engineering execution skills and experience on executing  large engineering projects
  • Decision making and proper planning of engineering execution of deliverables.
  • Experience to get approval from Client or consultant for certain deliverables as agreed in the contract.
  • Seamless coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Collaboration and stakeholders.

  • Strong cooperation and coordination with Product Group, Project Manager  and other  engineering disciplines (civil, process, equipment design, Electrical and Instrumentation)
  • Coordination with Consultantant or Client
  • Coordination with 3rd party engineering partners
  • Provide feedback to the project steering group
