Introduction:
An outstanding opportunity has become available for a Leading Hand to join our Karratha service center in the repairs team. This role is responsible to assist the Team Leaders and/or supervisors for maximum efficiency and productivity while overseeing all service repair work to ensure the highest quality of customer service.
These positions are on an 8/6 roster and are residential in Karratha.
What you’ll do:
- Assist in leading the Repairs crew of up to 20 workers, providing guidance and proactive leadership skills.
- Support Team leaders and/or Supervisor.
- Complete planned, unplanned, and corrective maintenance tasks
- Ensure Metso’s standards of quality and safety are adhered to by assertively championing Metso’s safety culture to team and subcontractors Ensure that all incidents, accidents and hazards are reported and are followed up correctly to minimize and manage risk.
- Inspect equipment and raise job requests on any defective parts/components found.
- Represent Metso in a professional manner.
- Ensures that lifting and handling activities are regularly supervised within the workshop.
Who you are:
- Hold a Certificate III in Mechanical, Machinist or Fabrication (Trade Certificate).
- Experience in a leading hand position.
- Able to communicate effectively.
- Working knowledge of heavy equipment related to the crushing and screening industry.
- Time management skills are essential.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to train others, including providing required training and qualification of customer service personnel in classroom, hands-on and field environments.
- Ability to solve problems and situations that may occur in the field during assembly, installation, maintenance and or repair, with safety being of the upmost importance. Must take ownership of problem-solving opportunities with a constructive attitude, commitment and understanding always.
Essential
- Must have a solid understanding of the mining processing industry, job site safety requirements, planning and scheduling and sequence of work, and relevant technology.
- Must be able to read plans and specifications.
Desirable
- Trade qualified in either fabrication, machining, mechanical fitting or related field, preferred.
- Good leadership, initiative, communication, teamwork, managing for results, and coaching & mentoring.
