Join Metso, in this 6-month contract opportunity supporting our Karratha Service Centre. We’re seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Officer to partner with our local team, drive HSE initiatives, and foster a strong safety culture onsite.
This is a practical, hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the field, engaging directly with supervisors, trades, and technicians to make a real impact on day-to-day safety outcomes.

In this role, you’ll play an important part in supporting the safe and efficient operation of our Karratha Service Centre. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the implementation of Metso’s HSE Management System.
- Assisting with the implementation of risk management processes and monitoring their compliance and effectiveness.
- Conducting inspections and participating in audits as required.
- Working collaboratively with all stakeholders to foster a strong and positive safety culture.
- Assisting with injury management and rehabilitation activities as required.
- Promoting and applying professional, ethical, and legal standards in all aspects of work.
- Monitoring, measuring, and evaluating HSE performance to drive continual improvement.
- Being an integrated member of both the Metso QEHS and Karratha Service Centre teams.

You’re an experienced and hands-on safety professional who thrives in operational environments and builds strong working relationships across all levels. You’ll also bring:
- A solid understanding of HSE Management Systems and Workplace Health and Safety legislative requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage others.
- Experience working within mining, manufacturing, or related heavy industry environments.
- Proven experience facilitating incident investigations and contributing to continuous improvement outcomes.
- Auditing experience with a focus on compliance and practical risk management.
- A Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (desirable, but not essential)
- Experience in injury management and return-to-work coordination.
- The ability to deliver training programs and support competency development across teams.
- Experience developing safe work procedures and risk assessments.
