INTRODUCTION:

Join Metso at Karratha’s newest and best equipped repair facility.  We are seeking experienced fixed plant Mechanical Fitters to join our Service team in the newly built Metso Karratha Service Centre.

 

These positions are on an 8/6 roster and are only based on a residential arrangement in Karratha.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Carry out major mechanical overhauls, refurbishments & repairs to equipment in line with Metso maintenance procedures & specifications.

  • Undertake strip, assess & rebuild of Metso fixed plant equipment including, but not limited to, crushers, crusher components, screens and screen parts, gearboxes, conveyor pulleys and drives, hydraulic units, slurry pumps

  • Work with, comply & proactively contribute to Metso's Safe Systems of work and policies & procedures.

  • Interpret detailed drawings relating to complex Metso equipment, recording & measuring components utilizing precision measuring tools.

  • Carry out precision fitting within fine precision tolerances relating to bearings, bushes and sleeves and other parts.

  • Assist in the scoping of detailed and precision repairs requirements.

  • Develop & implement continuous improvement initiatives

  • Assist in the investigation of customer queries regarding quality, tolerances, specifications and delivered condition of products.

  • Complete detailed inspection reports on equipment for refurbish.

  • Dismantle, replace and assemble engineering components in the Repairs facility.

  • Perform equipment inspections and audits and provide concise reports detailing refurbishment required.

  • Mark out/off material according to engineering drawings..

  • Assist in the provision of on-the-job training when required.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

  • A mechanical fitting trade qualification coupled with a minimum of 5 years related workshop experience, preferably with an OEM.

  • Advanced mechanical skills and experience operating within a workshop environment, repairs and full refurbishment workshop.

  • Extensive experience with the rebuild of crushers, screens and hydraulic components (preferred).

  • Able to take and record accurate measurements using precision measuring instruments.

  • Quality presentation of completed jobs always demonstrating attention to detail.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. Works well in team environment.

  • Dogging and Forklift tickets with relevant experience.

  • Current driver’s license
